YAPYAP Guide | How to Find and Use Wizard Gear and Wands

When you grab the right stick, you become a wizard who can control towers, objects, and enemies. Starting right makes a big difference in how long you survive and how many points you earn. The first wand you pick up, the items you find, and how you use them will shape the whole run.

Starting With The Wind Wand

Your first wand is the Wind Wand, which you get for free. Head to the spawn area near the caravan. Look for glowing trees with lanterns. Smash the branches, especially the one marked for free wands. The wand will automatically enter your inventory.

The wind wand helps you push enemies, lift objects, and float items or yourself around. It can move objects into place or spin small tornadoes to clear paths. Using it correctly keeps you out of harm and lets you control the space around you.

You can find extra wind wands on nearby trees or in the first castle room. These extras can be sold for gold or swapped in case your main wand breaks or gets stuck.

Making Early Gold

Early gold is important. Sell any extra wands or items you find to get money quickly. This gold allows you to buy upgrades and better wands from the shop between runs. Don’t wait too long to sell items because early upgrades make a bigger difference than hoarding weak gear.

After finishing a run, always visit the shop. It is the best place to increase your power and prepare for tougher stages. Spend gold wisely and plan which wand will fit your playstyle.

Shop Upgrades

Several wands are available in the shop, usually starting around 25 gold. Each wand gives you different abilities that change how you play.

Grotesque Wand

The Grotesque Wand is good for steady damage and for changing enemies into other forms. It can also create streams of effects that affect multiple enemies.

Minor Arcana 

Minor Arcana allows you to teleport short distances or grab objects from far away. It helps you move quickly and manipulate the environment without physically touching it.

Fire Wand 

The Fire Wand adds fire effects and speed boosts. It allows you to burn objects or enemies while moving faster than normal.

Illusion Wand

The Illusion Wand can create clones and fake targets to distract enemies. It also helps hide your position and create openings.

Astral Wand

Astral Wand lets you blink short distances and move through walls or objects. It is useful for escaping tight areas or bypassing obstacles that block your path.

Loot And Exploration

Exploring chests and towers can give rare items and wands. Many of these require solving small puzzles or interacting with special objects. Taking the time to explore makes later stages easier and gives more options.

To maintain the group's strength throughout runs, you can also share items with deceased teammates. Before proceeding to the next area, always look about for any hidden objects.

Dual Wielding And Combos

You can carry two wands at once and switch hands with the swap key. This lets you chain effects or combine spells in ways that a single wand cannot.

You can use one wand to push enemies and another to move objects or teleport. Some combinations allow you to swiftly avoid traps or travel through places in new ways. Try a variety of combinations to determine which suits your style the best.

Extra Tips

Search the spawn area for hidden coins. These small secrets give early gold, letting you buy upgrades sooner. Even small amounts help you get the right wands and gear quickly.

Spells should always be said clearly while using voice-activated wands. Clear casting prevents failures or delays.

Keep movement in mind at all times. Wand power is useful, but positioning and timing matter more. Using wands for movement, escape, and object control often saves your life more than direct attacks.

Practice combining tools, swapping hands, and using things from the surroundings. This makes you more adaptable and weakens the enemies you face. Planning is crucial if you want to stay longer and get more points on each run.
