YAPYAP Guide | How to Extract from the Castle

Escaping the castle in Yap Yap is not simple. The layout is meant to slow you down and confuse your sense of direction. Many players lose runs because they hesitate or follow the wrong paths. This guide explains how to navigate the castle, recognize useful signs, and reach extraction even when time is running out.

Reading The Castle Layout

The castle is made of towers linked by rooms, stairs, and bridges. Some routes move forward, while others stop without warning.

When you enter a room that feels closed off, do not assume there is no exit. These areas often connect to another tower through a bridge or raised path. Take a moment to check your surroundings before turning back.

Using Elevation As A Signal

Height is one of the best indicators that you are heading the right way. Paths that lead to extraction usually go upward.

Whenever you notice stairs leading higher, follow them. Even if they do not immediately reach the exit, they often place you closer to it.

Dealing With Misleading Stairs

Certain stairways end abruptly. Stop and take a close look around when this occurs. Look for any platforms, walkways, or bridges in the area. From where you stand, the next route is frequently visible, but if you're in a hurry, it's easy to miss.

Identifying The Exit Landmark

There is a recognizable structure that signals you are close to extraction. Seeing it means you are on the correct path. Move along the connected route and climb another set of stairs. This leads directly to the extraction area.

Activating Extraction

At the top, you will find the extraction zone with an orb at its center.

Interact with the orb to begin extraction. Stay inside the marked area until it is completed. Leaving the circle will cause you to fail extraction.

What To Do When Time Is Running Out

When the timer drops low, stop exploring. Searching for loot will only cost you the run. Focus on moving forward. Choose paths that go up. Ignore side rooms unless they clearly lead onward.

If you reach a dead end, turn back immediately. Do not wait or search. Every second counts. Use movement abilities if available. Flight, blink effects, and wind spells help you pass enemies and cross gaps quickly. Avoid fights unless something blocks your only path.

Staying Focused Under Time Pressure

Bad decisions result from panic. Continue to move purposefully and remain composed. Quickly scan rooms. You can identify most exits by looking for related towers or height variations. Be sure to trust vertical pathways. Compared to meandering around level halls, they are more dependable.
