The Last of Us Part II Gameplay Trailer Provides an In-Depth Look at Combat, Upgrades, and Stealth Systems

The second part of Naughty Dog and Sony's 4-part series leading up to The Last of Us: Part II is now out. With this last video exploring the narrative and this trailer focusing on the gameplay.

The trailer goes into depth about Ellie's skills and talents. the most notable being Ellie's ability to jump, go prone, and dodge attacks. Ellie is equipped with the same skills as Joel such as crafting and firearms but can use her light and small body to hide in dense grass and leap to areas to give her a height advantage.

We also learn about the upgrade system which hasn't changed much from the first game. With Ellie obtaining pills to upgrade core skills and magazines for specific skills. Ellie will also have access to new crafting options such as explosive arrows and can craft when prone.

When prone or crouched in tall grass Ellie is about to remain hidden and can crawl under certain areas. This also means that the AI has been built to search for such areas, even spotting Ellie from the tall grass if they're close enough.

The Last of Us: Part II launches on June 19th for PS4. A special edition TLOUS Part II PS4 Pro and headset are currently available for pre-order.
