Nintendo Rejected A Kanye West Video Game
Kanye saw Nintendo as an idle partner.

Reggie Fils-Aime, Former President of Nintendo of America, has released a new episode of his Talking Games With Reggie and Harold podcast. In it, Fils-Aime shares that many years back rapper and producer Kanye West was very interested in collaborating with Nintendo. West had been able to meet with Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto at E3 and requested to speak with the head of Nintendo of America. Fils-Aime flew down to California to meet with West and his wife Kim Kardashian at West’s fashion office. Fils-Aime recalls the meeting being “interesting”, but due to the amount of projects had to decline West’s offer. Fils-Aime explained that Nintendo were tough to work with and extremely demanding. Kanye West retorted that’s exactly the kind of partnership he wanted.
No details were shared about what kind of game West envisioned or which system it would have been on. In such an initial first meeting it is possible that there was only a desire to partner up, and that a project might come later. Still, it is a missed opportunity to have some kind of crossover between Kanye West and a classic character like Mario or Link.
