Crytek, best known for making games like Crysis and Ryse, has finally released information about the rumors behind the company’s finances. Despite many reports and rumors, as well as staff departures and resignations, Crytek has remained silent regarding the company’s financial situation. Now a company representative has released a statement to Games Industry International claiming that Crytek has been going through a “transitional phase” as it moves from being a development studio to an online publisher.
“Ultimately, with out organization, capitalization, portfolio and technologies we have now laid the foundations for securing Crytek’s future - not just in the short term, but also long term” the note to Games Industry reads. “Through this period of speculation, we are thankful for the support and encouragement we’ve received from our community and partners, and for the contribution all of our staff have made. We remain committed to doing what we are best known for and trying to develop the best interactive experiences and technology possible for everyone who loves gaming.”
The statement claims that Crytek has secured the necessary capital to move forward the company won’t be releasing anymore information about their “developments and progress.”
A number of senior staff have left Crytek UK over the past few months such as studio head Karl Hilton, Homefront director Hasit Zala, and Ryse: Son of Rome and Crysis 3 producer Mike Read. The future of Crytek is currently uncertain and it’s clear that the company doesn’t want to share anymore information while in this transition. Until Crytek decides to share with us more information all we can do is hope that the next Crysis is still a possibility.
