Minecraft Battle Mode Free on Consoles

Revealed today by Mojang and 4J studios Minecraft's Console Edition will soon launch and include official mini-games.

Usually only seen in the PC realm the first of these mini-games will be called "Battle" where players can face off against one another in combat. Each battle will be fought in specially-designed arenas filled with chests. The weapons, armor, and resources gained form each chest are randomly generated each match. Dying will allow players to enter spectator mode and fly around the map until they respawn. 

Battle mode supports 8 players online or 4 players local. The new update will launch in June with optional maps coming afterwards for $2.99.
