PC game The Gardens Between continues to be as chill as it possibly could be, this time by making some sort of mixtape, for seemingly no other reason than to be chill as heck. This mellowed out playlist can be found on Youtube or on the site for The Gardens Between.
The three videos, good for about 40 minutes of ambient tunes, each represent one of the circular scenes in this pastel-colored adventure game. This mix is a collaboration between developer The Voxel Agents and Tim Shiel. Additionally, the musician brought in several other artists for the tracks, including pianist Luke Howard and composer Biddy Connor. The big draw on this list is Gotye, the Belgian-Australian songwriter who had a massive hit with the song “Somebody That I Used To Know.” The Voxel Agents hail from Melbourne, Australia as well.
This playlist can double up as a mood setter, as it labels itself as an audiovisual experience, using the slowly rotating portraits of the game as a calming scene. The Gardens Between actively encourages relaxation, with the developers stating:
We aim to make spaces worth resting in and we wanted to share a few these environments. We want players to immerse themselves in the mood and atmosphere of the game.
This chill mix coincides with the news that The Gardens Between quietly slips out of its original launch window, aimed at the end of the year. Now, the game headed for Steam will look to release in the first quarter of 2018. In the meantime, the ambient tones can soothe the news of the delay.
Some of you out there might need a little bit of escapism today. That should make this relaxing The Gardens Between extra fitting right now. We can all take some time to just zone out a little bit, from time to time.
