Alpha Protocol eavesdrops June 1

Alpha Protocol was first announced in 2008, and several release date windows have since spawned from that time. It was supposed to have been in store shelves in the first half of 2009, but Sega decided to push the launch date back another year. But as of this week, Sega is finally giving us a set date to look forward to. Obsidian’s Alpha Protocol will be available on June 1st on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC in North America, and May 28 for the European regions.
Alpha Protocol is an espionage-based role-playing game known for its “Dialogue Stance System,” in which the choices players can make during conversations will affect how the storyline will progress. These ‘stances’ are also loosely based on the personalities of James Bond, Jason Bourne, and Jack Bauer of 24 fame. Also, players will assume the role of agent Michael Thornton, who is being hunted down by his own government after a mission suddenly goes awry.
Obsidian Entertainment is known for their collaborations with games such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights 2, an Aliens role-playing game (which was cancelled), and the latest and upcoming addition to the Fallout series, Fallout: New Vegas. Their newest game, Alpha Protocol, will officially be their first original title, since the past games they’ve been involved in were initially from either Bethesda or Bioware.
