Bungie Discusses Significant Upcoming Additions To Destiny 2
Masterwork weapons, improved rewards and better incentives for players who complete Prestige activities are on their way.

In between the discovery of an undisclosed XP scaling system that came into play after hitting maximum level and the unannounced doubling of XP requirements upon its removal, Bungie has been sailing rough seas the past few days. After cancelling the usual livestream, Bungie's Luke Smith and Chris Barrett discussed, in a post on Bungie.net, quite a bit about what's to come to Destiny 2 in December and going forward. The post begins with an acknolwedgement of the lack of communication and the need to be more open with players. "Going forward, Destiny 2’s post-launch game systems, features, and updates are being designed specifically to focus on and support players who want Destiny to be their hobby – the game they return to, and a game where friendships are made.", it continues.
December will come with two updates, one on the 5th, the other on the 12th. The December 5th update will bring armor ornaments for some existing armor sets, obtainable by completing set-specific objectives. Rare quality mods will dismantle into Gunsmith Materials, with a chance of yielding Legendary Mod Components. Banshee will also offer a daily rotation of Legendary Mods directily purchasable using Legendary Shards and Mod Components. Legendary Shards can get players Legendary Engrams from Master Rahool. These can contain world Legendaries or Masterwork weapons. Reputation Tokens will also be receiving a couple of changes
The December 12th update will bring Masterwork weapons to Destiny 2. These weapons will track and display their individual kill count (whether total or Crucible-only). They also generate orbs for the player and allies alongside adding re-rollable stat bonuses. They can be obtained from any source of Legendary weapons for characters that have passed the 250 Power threshold. Masterworks can also be dismantled into materials that allow for upgrading a Legendary weapon to Masterwork quality. Faction Armor and Weapons will be unlocked for purchase for Legendary Shards and Faction Tokens. Xur will carry Fated Engrams that decrypt as Exotics not yet in one's collection. You can have a look at all the changes coming with this update, alongside the rest of discussed additions in the full post.
The post also goes into the state of XP mechanics, reading "We were able to disable the system with a server-side change, but a new solution is now needed to rebalance XP in Destiny 2. We have begun that work, and will continue to provide updates to you about timelines and specifics. The values coded into our website API are being updated today (and may already have been as you read this post) to reflect the removal of this scaling mechanism. In a future update, we intend to link these internal and display-only values together for greater consistency, and to ensure that when changes are made they are accurately reflected everywhere we report them."
