Chrono Studio, the developer behind Chrono Odyssey, has released their first developer interview, revealing the game's unique selling points, including its battle system, gear advancement, and fundamental gameplay.

Chrono Odyssey, an upcoming MMO, emphasizes freedom and adaptability, letting players pick their path through gathering, crafting, or combat without being bound to a rigid narrative. The developers have revealed that the game's universe is inspired by cosmic horror and emphasizes exploration, solo and small-group content, and dynamic combat that provokes weapon switching.

The game lets classes be flexible depending on equipped weapons, therefore avoiding established MMO systems like the Trinity roles. PvP is optional via a flagging system; advancement can be gained via several playstyles. Chrono Odyssey is scheduled for a closed beta in June, which will allow us to lean more toward a smaller-scale, New World-like experience than large group-based MMOs.

The game offers great freedom as its primary objective. Without being fixed on a set narrative path for progression, you can concentrate on gathering, creating, or just battling foes. They desire equal enjoyment from leveling up and endgame material. Inspired by cosmic horror, as seen in Prometheus, the world they are creating aims to seem mysterious and ominous, with an always-pressing danger akin to the Zerg from Starcraft.

Chrono Odyssey is meant to be different from usual MMORPGs; there is no rigid trinity system (tank, healer, DPS), and every class may fill several roles relying on the weaponry employed. Though there will be a distinct PVE and PvP framework, large-scale PvP events are not scheduled. Players can flag themselves for PvP, as in New World, which implies some open-world PvP events.

The game maximally encourages small group play; parties max out at five players. Players can switch between two of the three different weapons each class provides during combat, utilizing varied skills depending on the one chosen. Learning to swap weapons is fundamental and starts straight from the beginning—even against early elite bosses. Emphasis is more on skill combos than on raw data; the system is designed to be simple to learn but deep enough to master.

There is solo content like Chronogates and Trials for gameplay content. Chronogates include defeating bosses and advancing through tiers; trials use puzzles, traps, and randomized elements to keep things fresh. Party-based content features Expedition Dungeons, which ideally calls for a team of three, whereby each player fills a different role. Along with the experience, region bosses require several parties to take them down for unique prizes.

Additionally, exploration is greatly important, which includes bounty hunting, time portals, and mazes. Time portals allow you to gather unusual items; labyrinths have you solve puzzles and find loots. Additionally, spousal hunting helps drive exploration. You can totally level up via crafting and gathering alone; character progression isn't restricted to the dungeon or boss drops. Gear upgrades are achieved through improvements using materials obtained from battle, exploration, and gathering.

The team intends to conduct a public closed beta test in June to gather comments and enhance the game, particularly the multiplayer aspect, looking ahead. Their goal is to ensure that no one "correct" way to play exists; rather, everything should result in gratifying progress regardless of whether you choose crafting, exploring, questing, or fighting.

Overall, the game appears to favor a smaller-scale MMO experience centered on solo play and close-knit groups, unlike titles such as Throne of Liberty, where large parties and big guilds predominate. Based on what has been shared, Chrono Odyssey seems to be similar to New World in a number of respects. More updates—and the opportunity to experience it firsthand—are forthcoming with the beta next month.
