Civilization IV Historical Grammy Win
News by Daav Daavpuke on Feb 14, 2011
Civilization IV’s ‘Baba Yetu’ (official music video) set a new standard some time ago, when it was the first ever video game soundtrack to be up for a Grammy.

Christopher Tin; the man of the hour.
Well, now it’s official; it also won! To be perfectly clear, the win actually goes to Christopher Tin, who provided this song, together with the Soweto Gospel Choir. But this also marks the first ever video game to win a music Grammy. Sure, it might not be some chiptunes bleeping from the days of yore, but anyone listening to the song can immediately hear the pure awesomeness of this instant classic.
A humble Christopher Tin accepts his historical win and acknowledges great games.
This once again proves that the Civilization franchise paves the way for video games, like the workers in the game connect cities. It should spur developers everywhere to create content that isn’t just awe-striking visually, but also audibly. It’s a well-deserved win indeed.
