Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.5 Adds Console Mods With Dual Wielding
The biggest update of the Virtuos era adds mod support on XBOX and PlayStation, a prequel quest, hand cyberware customization, and a brand-new playstyle.

CD Projekt Red has finished its showcase for Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5, and the update is much bigger than most players expected. Many of the features the community has been asking for are in there, and it looks set to be the best-received release of the Virtuos era so far.
Even better, it goes live today for free. The studio also published patch notes alongside the showcase, and one detail had already slipped out through an insider before the stream even started: cross-platform mod support is on its way through a mod.io integration. That means console mods are finally arriving with Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5.

Console players can use mods starting today, with curated authors invited early.
If you play on XBOX Series X | S or PlayStation 5, you can download mods for the game, because several authors were invited to the program early. A short look at the new menu was shown, and the in-game integration will appear on every platform. That includes PC, so you will see the same menu there, but you can ignore it if you prefer.
CDPR also said the system is still gaining new functionality, which confirms that Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5 will not be the game's final update. Since it runs on mod.io, the same platform used for Witcher 3 mods, new mods will be added every week or two.
CDPR curates them all, so authors cannot just post whatever they like. Deceptious and Cyber Vessa are part of the program, so you will probably see some of their work today. That could mean new clothing items or other visual upgrades for your character, and the preview images showed several of Deceptious' mods.
One mod from that list that already stands out on PC is "I Really Want to Stay at Your House." It is a series that covers all the romance partners and builds on the hangout mechanics, giving you more to do with them in your apartment and letting them stay longer.
Deceptious has many romance mods on PC, and some even expand the list of characters you can romance.
It makes sense that plenty of that content would arrive on mod.io, bringing a heavily requested feature to consoles through modding. One catch in Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5 is worth knowing about. CDPR said that installing mods on a save will give that save a new label. The update adds several save-sorting features, but a modded save will no longer be able to earn achievements.
Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5 also adds a new Edgerunners 2 quest and some items you can unlock from it. It focuses on King and serves as a prequel to the anime, covering Team King's final job and giving you a chance to meet several members of his crew.

The quest itself is barely shown, but the studio called it the real deal. The anime writers worked with CDPR on it, and the same voice actors from the show return for the in-game Edgerunners 2 content. That points to a substantial tie-in, and CDPR said it wants to top what it did with the first Edgerunners update back around patch 1.6.
In addition to new items and a weapon, the game is adding an Edgerunners radio station that plays nothing but music from the series. It has 16 songs in total, with tracks from the first season and from Edgerunners 2. That is not the only new quest in Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5, though.
The most surprising, and possibly most confusing, addition is a series of side quests where Richard Night guides you around the city he founded in the game's lore.
CDPR described it as a cozy quest and said surprises await after one of Richard Night's tours, all built around a mystery. The Richard Night quests read like lore explainers, with very little combat, as you travel around Night City while its history is explained to you. The secondary mystery makes it sound even more interesting.
A batch of new visual options is also on the way, led by hand cyberware customization. At five new Glamdoc locations around Night City, you can customize every hand and arm cyberware option, with each Glamdoc having its own theme and character.
Together, they offer 40 new arm customization options. These Glamdocs are fully voiced characters with backstories. The locations are themed around specific factions, which determines the color palette each vendor offers for your hands, a nice touch.
The customization itself looks great. This level of detail was a surprise, since a few preset choices seemed more likely, but this approach is far more interactive. Some players hoped for the same treatment for the rest of the body, but it stays limited to your arms and hands. Because the game is played in first person, though, it should still work for most people.

Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5 also adds five new clothing sets, spread across existing vendors.
The old Twitch drop sets are also being added to in-game vendors, so if you missed those Twitch drops, you can pick them up now. All in all, that's roughly eight or nine new outfit sets around the map. Four new Twitch drops are on the way too, coming with four new Quadra skins.
New hairstyles are included as well, though if you use mods you may have had them already, since they look like styles that were previously exclusive to NPCs and are now open to V. The biggest feature in Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5 is dual wielding, which opens up a whole new playstyle to build around.
The Cool tree gets a new perk, and picking it naturally unlocks dual-wielding, with four minor perks around it. Nothing from the old tree seems removed or heavily reworked, so you simply get five new perks to spend points on. Once you take Double Trouble, you can dual-wield pistols or revolvers, and you can mix the two.
You do not get a duplicate of your gun, since you need to own two pistols to assign. Shotguns and melee weapons aren't included, but modders will likely add more almost straight away, and with console mods now in place, everyone can use that content.
While you are actually firing, the guns' special effects are at least partly preserved.
By default, there seem to be penalties to how much applies, but unlocking more perks lessens those penalties and adds other bonuses. It looks fantastic, and the animations and implementation push it even further. The expectation was simply to hold two pistols at once, but seeing it in action makes a full respec into a dual-wielding build very tempting.
The different shooting styles on show look satisfying, and it may be the best dual-wielding animation work in any game. It was announced yesterday, but this segment still stood out. New dual-wield poses are also being added to Photo Mode.

There's more, starting with new tarot cards. CDPR has released a physical tarot deck for sale, and the game is adding 12 new Minor Arcana tarot cards to find around Night City. It includes a quest to track them all down, fresh dialogue with Misty as you find them, and a special reward at the end.
Beyond the headline features, Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5 is a full-scale update with bug fixes and quality-of-life changes. FOV sliders are coming to consoles, the patch notes mention performance improvements, Mac gets Metal support, PC gets DLSS 4.5, and your stash now has new filters for sorting items.
Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5 is one of the biggest updates the game has received, and every feature feels well thought out. Unlike some earlier Virtuos updates, these are things players asked for online or that are simply implemented well.
