E3 2011 Rumor: Project Cafe Might Simply Be Called 'Nintendo'

There have already been suggestions as to what name Nintendo’s new console might be. Names like Nintendo Feel, Nintendo Stream, Wii 2, Wii HD, Nintendo HD, Nintendo Revolution (which was the Wii’s old name before the company changed it), and other crazy dumb monikers people can think of. A rumor on the console’s latest name really takes the cake, I think.

Game Informer has been hearing some recent details that Nintendo’s Project Café will simply be called, ‘Nintendo.’ And why shouldn’t they? I mean, back in the day, my friends didn’t say, “Hey! Let’s go play Mario in your Nintendo Entertainment System!” They simply said “Nintendo” and we immediately knew what that meant. Simplicity isn’t always a bad thing, and Nintendo’s proving it right here. It’s short, straight to the point, and it’s a name people would definitely recognize.

But, like we’ve said in the past, these are only rumors, as we can’t be too sure if this will actually be Project Café’s official name (we’re not even sure if Sony’s NGP will indeed be called PS Vita). We’ll find out soon on June 7th, the day Nintendo’s press conference is scheduled to start. Stay tuned for the big reveal!
