Niantic is certainly upping the ante with the new additions being added to Pokémon Go and now it would seem we may be getting the biggest addition yet. Niantic, the developers of Pokémon Go, has confirmed that Mega Rayquaza will be making its debut in mobile Pokémon catching app.

The addition of Mega Rayquaza is just one of the many things that are being added to Season 11 of Pokémon Go, these include all new content and other new game features. This exciting announcement follows after the recent controversy surrounding remote raid passes. Despite this, things seem to be getting better for the game, as Pokémon Go started Season 11 by introducing Axew, one of the rarest Pokémon to be added to Pokémon Go. Niantic also confirmed that they would be extending their partnership with Amazon, which began last year 2022. Through this partnership, players will be able to get free items by accessing Amazon Prime Gaming.

It would seem on top of all that, Season 11 also brought the Web Store to even more countries and gave players access to limited-time offers alongside a variety of other exclusive bundles. However, this may sound all well and good, but that is only the icing on the cake as on top of all the exciting additions, Pokemon GO Fest 2023 will also be the debut of Mega Rayquaza. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Rayquaza, they are the third legendary from Generation 3 of the mainline Pokémon games.

Mega Rayquaza will first debut during in-person raids events that will be held in London, Osaka, and New York City. Any player will be able to challenge Mega Rayquaza, but only players that are ticket holders will get Mega Energy to Mega Evolve the Legendary Dragon/Flying type. However, Rayquaza will make its worldwide debut on 27 June 2023, during Pokemon GO Fest 2023: Global.

Players who use Mega Rayquaza to attack a gym or raid will receive a powerful bonus that increases the damage of Pokemon challenging the same raid/gym. If players decide to Mega Evolve Rayquaza, players will then receive additional XP as well as Candy when catching Flying-, Psychic-, or Dragon-type Pokemon. As you can expect, Mega Rayquaza will not be like other Mega evolutions and will require the Charged Attack, Dragon Ascent first, and the only way to do that is by using the new Meteorite item.

If you are lucky enough to be a ticket holder and complete the Research story at Pokemon GO Fest in-person events, then you will be able to earn the Meteorite item. As for the global portion of the Pokemon GO Fest, players who log in on Sunday will be able to receive a short Special Research story that when completed, will give them the Meteorite item.

Rayquaza may be a legendary but it isn't the only one that's available in Pokémon Go, Lugia and Mewtwo are also available in the game along with other mythical Pokémon such as Diancie. However, it does seem that Niantic are certainly ramping things up and we can't wait to see what other exciting things they have in store for us.
