Endnight Games has finally made a noticeable move surrounding Forest 3 after months of relative silence, and fans are beginning to look for signs of the game’s next major reveal. The studio has completely revamped its official website for the first time in more than five years, adding the upcoming survival horror game alongside The Forest and Sons of the Forest.

Although the update doesn't confirm when players will see more of the third entry, the timing has fueled speculation about what the developers might be preparing behind the scenes. With the Game Awards 2026 coming up in December, some fans are thinking we might get another trailer before the year is over.

Forest 3 Mechanical Claw in the forest

Forest 3 was first shown by the developers at the Game Awards in December 2025, surprising players with a major shift in the direction of the franchise.

Instead of heading back to yet another isolated island filled with cannibals and grotesque mutants, the developers are taking the survival horror experience to an alien planet. The announcement trailer showed huge alien forests, bizarre creatures, futuristic technology, and an unknown environment that feels very different from the settings of the previous games.

The recent website redesign has now brought the game back into the spotlight. For years, Endnight’s official website remained largely unchanged, even as Sons of the Forest moved through development, early access, and its full release. The new layout gives fans a clearer look at the studio’s growing lineup and its upcoming projects.

The studio’s online presence continued to feature relatively outdated information, making the new design a noticeable departure from its previous approach. The updated website now presents The Forest, Sons of the Forest, and Forest 3 together, with the upcoming title receiving its place in the studio’s portfolio.

That change may seem minor, but it has drawn attention because of Endnight’s history of major announcements. The studio originally revealed Sons of the Forest at the Game Awards in December 2019, introducing the sequel through a surprise trailer that generated considerable interest.

Endnight also continued releasing promotional material toward the end of the year as development progressed, giving fans additional glimpses of what the sequel would offer. With Forest 3 receiving its original reveal at the same event in December 2025, some players believe the studio could follow a similar pattern in 2026.

The timing has become particularly interesting because December 2026 would mark roughly one year since the third game’s announcement.

If Endnight wants to show how development has progressed, the Game Awards could provide an opportunity to present another trailer and offer a closer look at the project. Fans have also noticed activity around the studio’s website settings and underlying structure, fueling speculation that additional material may be in preparation.

Forest 3 Pointing a Gun in the forest

Alternatively, Endnight could announce its next presentation via its official social media accounts before dropping a trailer. The studio has also used social media to tease Sons of the Forest in the past, including some announcements tied to later trailers in 2022. If it follows a similar promotional approach, players might get a short teaser or announcement before a more substantial presentation.

Regardless of when the next trailer arrives, Forest 3 is already taking the franchise in a different direction. The original The Forest followed a plane crash that left players stranded on a remote peninsula, where they had to survive against cannibals and disturbing mutants while investigating the island’s hidden mysteries.

Sons of the Forest expanded that formula with a larger environment, more advanced building mechanics, companions, additional creatures, and a storyline involving strange technology and other dimensions. The third game seems ready to build on those ideas while moving the action entirely off Earth.

The new setting features alien vegetation, dark swamps, unusual terrain, and enormous creatures that look very different from the enemies encountered in the earlier games. Although forests remain central to the experience, players will be exploring an extraterrestrial wilderness filled with unfamiliar organisms and environmental dangers.

Keeping the Forest's name while introducing an entirely different planet lets Endnight preserve the series’ focus on surviving in hostile surroundings without simply repeating the same setting. It also allows the devs to introduce new threats that players can’t come to with the same expectations they built up from the previous entries.

The original announcement trailer already offered a few unsettling glimpses of the creatures inhabiting this world.

One particularly odd organism looks like a wormlike creature the protagonist seems to be collecting or examining. Other scenes show bigger monsters with giant appendages and strange body shapes. These designs seem to indicate that Forest 3 will introduce a new set of hostile creatures and not just the familiar cannibals and mutants.

Forest 3 Creature Standing

The trailer also has clues that may tie the new setting to existing mysteries in the franchise. The main character appears to be on a spaceship in the opening sequence, and fans have observed that the radio in the ship plays music associated with Sons of the Forest. This detail has led to speculation that the new game may retain connections to the events of the previous installment.

This has fueled speculation that Forest 3 could take place much further in the future than its predecessors, potentially explaining the presence of advanced spacecraft, robotic equipment, and technology that was not available in the earlier games. If the music represents something from the distant past, it could subtly clue us into how much time has passed between the stories.

That possibility has encouraged theories involving wormholes, dimensional travel, and the mysterious technology introduced in Sons of the Forest. The previous game established that certain artifacts could interact with other dimensions, so the disturbance shown in Forest 3 could potentially connect the new adventure to those earlier discoveries.

Timmy’s storyline is another unresolved part of the franchise that fans hope the third game will clarify.

At the end of Sons of the Forest, Timmy’s mutation is shown to have been reversed using Solafite, a mysterious mineral tied to the island’s advanced technology. He later establishes a pharmaceutical company and acquires another island containing Solafite deposits but reports that contact with the location has been lost.

Forest 3 instead takes place on an alien planet, leaving questions about how the new setting will connect to Timmy and the events of the previous games. One theory suggests that his experiments with Solafite and the technology discovered in Sons of the Forest could eventually lead to the advanced equipment and dimensional travel shown in the third game’s trailer.

The alien planet might also help explain the origins of some of the unusual creatures and biological phenomena that have appeared throughout the franchise. If Endnight goes that route, Forest 3 could expand the existing lore while introducing a new mystery about the source of the horrors players encounter.

For now, the website overhaul is the clearest recent development, while another trailer at the Game Awards 2026 remains unconfirmed. Still, the studio’s updated online presence, the anniversary of the game’s original reveal, and the mysteries introduced by its first trailer have given fans plenty to discuss.
