Galarian Ponyta Type Revealed, Pokemon Shield Exclusive

Recently during a Pokemon Sword and Shield 24-hour livestream a new Galarian Ponyta was revealed. Sporting a more colorful look than its traditional Fire-type model. Now, it has been revealed that the Galarian Ponyta is a Psychic-type and exclusive to Pokemon Shield. Guess my theory that it was Fairy has been proven wrong quickly.

The reveal comes with new images showing off the new Ponyta, who's colorful lavender and cyan hair will pulse colors when about to attack, including its horn. Galarian Ponyta also has an ability called Pastel Veil which negates poison effects, including ally Pokemon during dual battles.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see how its evolution will look but considering how close the design the Galarian Ponyta is to the original my guess is that Rapidash will maintain its original core look. With changes to the hair color and horn.
