GT5 Details Are Go!
News by Craig Bryan on Aug 26, 2009
Gran Turismo 5 news is flooding in thick and fast. We reported last week that the game was to feature damage rendering, but now we have a release date and a bunch more information that may or may not interest you.
Polyphony Digital released the information on their official website, before taking it down hours later. The reason for doing so is yet to be confirmed, but it’s likely the news was posted a little prematurely. Luckily for you guys we have everything you need to know right here.
* The game will feature around 1,000 vehicles – yes you heard it right – with 170 brand news cars to the series and 830 from previous iterations.
* It was also announced that there will be more than 20 courses, with more than 60 layouts available to play around with, including the Top Gear test track from the popular television series.
* There will be a brand news physics system, damage representation, and even unique attributes that separate electric cars from their counterparts.
* Arcade Mode will include the typical single player and 2-player battles that we’ve come to expect. Whilst GT Mode bares no surprises – A world map, garage, car dealers, tuning shop, car wash, oil change, championship races, and licence tests will all make an appearance.
* There is apparently a museum feature included that will allow players to play through Gran Turismo 5: Prologue if they so desire.
* Photo Mode makes a return with all previous features.
* There will be support for Dolby Digital 5.1 and 7.1, plus the ability to add your own custom soundtracks into the mix.
* Gran Turismo TV will allow users to plug in their PSP or PSP Go and receive video output from their handheld. It will also allow for progressive download.
* The online portion will have an open lobby, text and voice chat, private rooms, online photo and replay albums, plus the ability for YouTube replay output.
Polyphony Digital announced that the game should be out late this year.
