Grand Theft Auto 6's latest Love Magazine feature has revealed a new screenshot of Jason and Lucia, along with several details about the game's characters, world, story, and how Rockstar has approached its fictional version of Florida. While much of the magazine covers information already hinted at in trailers and previous promotional material, it also includes interesting details about how Rockstar built the world of Leonida.
The newly revealed screenshot features Jason and Lucia together, with Lucia sitting on the hood of what appears to be a damaged vehicle or pickup truck while Jason leans against it with his arms crossed. Jason looks directly at the camera with a serious expression, wearing an open jean jacket over a shirt and jeans. He also has a full beard and slicked-back hair.

Lucia is wearing a different outfit from some we've seen before, including high-top sneakers, fishnets, jean shorts, and a tank top rolled up slightly at the front. Her hair is styled differently as well, with what appears to be cornrows.
The different outfits shown throughout the magazine also highlight just how much character customization could potentially be available in GTA 6.
Seeing Jason and Lucia repeatedly appear in different clothing and hairstyles makes it seem like Rockstar is putting considerable effort into making the protagonists visually distinct across different parts of the game.
There are also a few interesting outfit connections between the new material and previous GTA 6 promotional footage. One screenshot shows Jason and Lucia seemingly preparing for the Hank's Waffles diner robbery, with Jason wearing an outfit that has already appeared in the artwork associated with the second trailer.
A couple of small differences remain, though. In the newer image, Jason isn't wearing a watch on his left wrist, and his undershirt appears white rather than black. Outside of those changes, the outfit looks almost identical.
Lucia's appearance on the magazine cover also connects to earlier promotional material. She's wearing the familiar black leather jacket that Rockstar previously showed in one of the screenshots released alongside Trailer 2, where she was seen leaning against a motorcycle. These similarities could simply be Rockstar reusing outfits, but they could also be deliberate connections between different parts of the game.
Either way, they give you another look at how the characters' appearances may change throughout their story.
The magazine also offers more insight into Rockstar's approach to Lucia as a protagonist. According to the feature, the studio wanted to create a character who could stand alongside protagonists such as Arthur Morgan and Niko Bellic while still having her own identity.
That comparison is particularly interesting because Arthur and Niko are two of Rockstar's most recognizable protagonists. Lucia is being positioned as a character who can carry that same level of importance without simply becoming another version of an existing Rockstar character.
Her background is also more specific than previously known. Lucia was written with an immigrant background and was conceived as someone who grew up around Newark, New Jersey, near Liberty City, before eventually being brought to Leonida.

That detail could leave room for a prologue, flashback, or story sequence set around Liberty City. GTA 5 famously took players outside Los Santos through North Yankton, so a brief return to a modern version of Liberty City would fit what Rockstar has done before.
Jason's background, meanwhile, appears to connect directly to his military experience, although Rockstar has clarified that it isn't meant to be a political statement. His circumstances eventually push him toward drug trafficking and bank robbery, while players will have some influence over the choices he makes along the way.
His military background also gives him a natural connection to GTA 6's criminal world. Someone with extensive military training would presumably have experience with firearms and weapons, which will obviously play an important role in the game.
Lucia's motivations seem different.
Rockstar describes her as determined to build a better life for herself and unwilling to let obstacles stand in her way. That could make her the more ambitious of the two, while Jason may be the more grounded character.
The contrast between them appears to be an important part of the story. Rockstar says Jason and Lucia were deliberately designed to complement one another, creating a push-and-pull relationship throughout the game. Their different goals and needs could therefore become a major part of their relationship as the story progresses.
Beyond the two protagonists, the magazine also talks about Raul Batista. Rockstar describes Raul as an older mentor figure who brings Jason and Lucia into larger-scale criminal operations while giving them knowledge about Vice City's criminal underworld.
Raul has already appeared prominently in previous GTA 6 footage, particularly the extended look, and his repeated presence in the game's promotional material makes him a character worth watching. As a mentor, he could serve as an important link between Jason and Lucia and the larger criminal world around them.
A major part of the Love Magazine feature is also dedicated to Leonida itself.
Rockstar says radio advertising and pedestrian dialogue aren't being treated as secondary content. The studio has a dedicated writing and production operation focused specifically on the material happening around the player.
That approach should make even the quieter parts of GTA 6 feel more detailed. Radio broadcasts, advertisements, NPC conversations, and background events can give you information about Leonida without requiring direct interaction.

Rockstar's research also went far beyond looking at photographs or relying on existing knowledge of Florida. The developers traveled throughout Miami and other parts of Florida, including surrounding towns and the Florida Keys all the way down to Key West.
During those trips, Rockstar spoke with locals, police officers, and gang members to better understand the state and the people who live there. Some of the stories the developers heard during their research were reportedly described as terrifying.
The research process was also conducted in stages.
Rockstar initially sent smaller groups to different locations, then returned with larger teams once certain areas became important to development. This allowed developers to better understand specific places before incorporating them into the game.
The studio's research wasn't limited to the parts of Florida most commonly visited by tourists, either. Rockstar specifically wanted to understand areas visitors might rarely see, which could explain why GTA 6's map includes more than just major cities and recognizable tourist locations.
Miami and Florida also influence the way Rockstar describes Leonida. The state's wealth, poverty, excess, chaos, and hustle all contributed to the fictional world of GTA 6.
Rockstar wants Vice City and the wider Leonida region to feel like somewhere you could spend hundreds of hours exploring. Even relatively small areas get significant detail, meaning locations that initially look unimportant could contain their own secrets, Easter eggs, characters, or environmental details.
That philosophy extends to the background activity happening throughout the map. Rockstar has created a large amount of dialogue, radio content, advertising, and pedestrian conversations designed to keep the world moving even when you're not actively participating in an event.
The result should be a world that doesn't simply wait for you to interact with it.
Instead, Leonida is being built around the idea that things are happening whether you're watching them or not. Rockstar is also taking a particular approach to GTA 6's satire. The studio says the game will focus heavily on modern culture, including conspiracy theories and the strange ways people react to everyday events.
Rather than simply recreating real-world viral moments, Rockstar says it deliberately avoided copying them directly. Instead, the developers are creating their own distorted versions of contemporary culture.
That leaves plenty of room for the kind of bizarre situations that have become associated with Florida in real life. GTA has always taken inspiration from real-world behavior and pushed it further, and the current cultural climate gives Rockstar plenty of material to work with.

The game's portrayal of the American dream is also changing compared with previous entries. According to the Love Magazine feature, Rockstar sees the modern American dream as being more modest than it was in earlier GTA games.
Instead of chasing extreme wealth, the dream can now be about owning a house, supporting a family, and paying off loans. That's noticeably different from the American dream in GTA 4, where Niko Bellic arrived in Liberty City after his cousin Roman encouraged him with stories of a wealthy lifestyle filled with parties, mansions, and women.
The American dream presented in GTA 6 therefore reflects a different period.
For Jason and Lucia, the goal isn't necessarily about becoming unimaginably rich. Instead, their circumstances revolve around trying to improve their lives while being pulled deeper into crime.
Rockstar describes the central premise as something hopeful and naive: two young criminals on the run pushing their crime spree as far as they can. That combination of optimism and criminal ambition appears to be at the heart of Jason and Lucia's story.
Ultimately, the Love Magazine feature reinforces Rockstar's focus on creating a world that feels larger than the main storyline. Jason and Lucia have their own motivations and conflicting personalities, while characters like Raul can pull them further into Vice City's criminal world.
At the same time, Leonida is being designed with enough background detail to make exploration worthwhile. The radio, advertisements, NPC conversations, environmental details, and Rockstar's extensive research are all intended to make the world feel alive even when you're simply moving through it.
With GTA 6, Rockstar appears to be aiming for a world where even the smallest locations offer something worth discovering, while the main story follows two characters whose relationship is constantly tested by their different ambitions. The Love Magazine feature offers another look at how those ideas are coming together ahead of the game's release.
