Everyone is very excited for GTA 6, and the only thing that's on their minds is one simple question: how long will the story be? Fans are ready for the next Rockstar epic, but they're also ready for hints since it's been ten years since Red Dead Redemption 2. As soon as GTA 6 comes out, story plots will be shared on social media, and endings that have been built up for decades could be revealed before players even finish their first heist.

Players already have different ideas about what to do. Some people insist on enjoying every task and going slowly. Some people plan marathons to read Jason and Lucia's story as quickly as possible before the internet breaks it.

Rockstar's past games show that GTA 5's main story took about 30 to 35 hours to finish. Red Dead Redemption 2, on the other hand, needed at least 50 hours to finish, and probably more like 100 if players fully explored the world. It's now up to Rockstar to decide whether GTA 6 will have the quick balance of GTA 5 or the epic sprawling scale of RDR2. A 40 to 50 hours is a good length—enough to feel good enough about the game without wearing out the player.

Still, there are a lot of questions about GTA 6 that go beyond just the game's length. Shawn Layden, who used to be the head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, is very worried about paid services like Xbox Game Pass. Layden says, "This isn't about making money or getting hits." "It's about paid time off and hours worked." We're making workers work for money only. He says that games that can be counted on to make money might lose their artistic spirit and become just another form of entertainment instead of an art form.

The warning is echoed by Raphaël Colantonio, the head of Arcane Studios. He says that Game Pass is like a chemical in the ecosystem; it makes people more interested but threatens artistic diversity and the success of independent games. Titles like Remedy's FCB Firebreak got a lot of attention on the service but didn't sell very well, showing the long-term effects that could happen.

Critics point out that subscription services come with a price: projects are canceled and studios close, which makes people wonder about the health of the development environment as a whole. On the other hand, PlayStation responds with carefully chosen PS+ games, like the recently added Cyberpunk 2077, to keep players interested while balancing market challenges.

As the release date for GTA 6 gets closer, the talk is about more than just the number of missions or stories. It shows how the industry has changed over time, with developers, platforms, and players having to deal with a world that is changing quickly, thanks to streaming models, engagement metrics, and the struggle between art and business. Rockstar is in the middle of this storm and needs to deliver a story that is worth the ten-year wait while also honoring its artistic history.
