GTA Trilogy to debut on Mac

Never had a game been so open and its potential so rife with possibilities, until the brilliantly playable Grand Theft Auto III debuted on the PlayStation 2 console. A year later, a 1980s theme Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was launched, followed closely by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 2004.

After making their debuts on the PlayStation console, the three games were later ported over to the Xbox and the PC as part of a compilation, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy. Now, after nearly ten years, the games will debut on another platform, the Mac.

Representatives for the publisher said on Rockstar Facebook page’s Asked & Answered column said, “Look for the long-awaited release of the classic Grand Theft Auto Trilogy (Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) for Mac, most likely later this year. We’ll have much more info and a proper announcement soon.” The Trilogy made its way for the PC in 2009 and the PS2 and Xbox in 2005.

Credited for taking the open-world, sandbox type of gaming to the masses Grand Theft Auto III follows a thug on his crime endeavours across Liberty City. Vice City drew much of its inspiration from 1980s culture and is packed with references from Miami Vice to Scarface. Set in the 1990s, San Andreas is based on hip-hop culture and is set in three major cities, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas.
