Tomonobu Itagaki, formerly known as the head of developer Team Ninja sued Tecmo back in June of 2008. The reasons for the lawsuit were primarily about “unpaid completion bonuses.” However, Tecmo and Team Ninja have finally reached a settlement as of yesterday.

According to Kotaku, Itagaki described their agreement with Tecmo as “mutual,” and their settlement “harmonious.” Afterwards, Itagaki stated he is “currently planning a totally new title, and I am eagerly awaiting the day I am able to announce it." The Dead or Alive and 3D Ninja Gaiden creator also assured fans that the game will be a “world class entertainment” with a “deeper playing experience” than anything out on the market right now.

The DOA/Ninja Gaiden creator finally reaches an agreement with Tecmo.

Details of the lawsuit began with Itagaki’s announcement, saying he had “filed this lawsuit with a strong intent to question the social responsibility of Tecmo Co., Ltd. and its President Yoshimi Yasuda, as well as condemning them for their unjust acts." Itagaki also declared that the damages dealt to his development company reached almost 150 million yen.

Itagaki was actually joined by two other Tecmo employees regarding the same issue. They were speaking on behalf of 300 Tecmo staff members who were left unpaid. Following the wake of the lawsuits, Tecmo president Yoshimi Yasuda filed for resignation, and was cited for leaving the company due to “personal reasons.”
