Klei Founder "Embarrassed" About Original Shank - "I Cringe"

We did an interview with Klei Entertainment recently. In it, we asked a few questions to Jamie Cheng about their experience with Shank and more importantly Shank 2. When asked about how the two games differ from each other, the founder of Klei mentioned: “When I play Shank 1, I cringe and I’m kind of embarrassed.”  This shouldn’t mean that the original is a bad title, but rather that hindsight might make it seem lesser than before.

 

The man continued to say that when making Shank 2, the main focus was to improve vastly on the foundations, stating: “We definitely weren’t setting out to re-define Shank, we just wanted to make a much, much better one.” Our review gave Shank 2 a 90/100, so that plan might’ve worked out swimmingly.
