Kojima's Double Play: Physint and OD: Knock Bring New Hype
The mastermind behind Metal Gear is back with two ambitious projects.

Hideo Kojima is diving back into the genre that made him a household name—action espionage. His upcoming game, Physint, is shaping up to be an experience worthy of a box office hit, mixing cinema with cutting-edge gameplay. For us, it's like that one Martin Scorsese meme, "Absolute Cinema," watching all this unfold.
Revealed at a State of Play earlier this year, Physint is a brand-new IP and Kojima Productions' third collab with PlayStation. At the recent Beyond the Strand showcase, Kojima confirmed that the game is still in early development. Details are still scarce, though he did tease concept art, including a poster featuring the game's lead character, but with the face hidden. Sigh, classic Kojima! If there's one thing Kojima is better at than developing games, it's building suspense.

But when it comes to the cast, we've got exciting news for you. Charlee Fraser (from Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Don Lee (from Train to Busan), and Minami Hamabe (from Godzilla Minus One) are all on board. The lead protagonist—we don't know who that is yet, but with this many A-listers already involved, it's looking nothing short of a Christopher Nolan epic.
Physint: Kojima Returns to Action Espionage
Physint isn't just another spy thriller. Kojima is working with Columbia Pictures on a Hollywood soundstage to give the game a cinematic feel. It's a movie, but one that you will be able to play, with the stakes being high story-wise and the gameplay as crunchy as you'd expect from Kojima Productions.
This marks a major moment. Kojima, who split from Konami back in 2015, is returning to the genre he basically helped invent with Metal Gear Solid. Remember Snake Eater and The Phantom Pain? They set new standards for action espionage, even on aging hardware. Physint feels like the game that will bring Kojima back to the throne he deserves to sit on.
OD: Knock—Horror with a Twist
But that's not all Kojima's cooking. Alongside Physint, Kojima Productions is working on OD: Knock, a horror project that looks haunting, sure, but with this, Kojima is stepping a little outside his comfort zone. Originally teased back in 2022 as Overdose, the game was showcased again at Beyond the Strand, revealing a wealth of details, along with a trailer.
Unlike Physint, OD: Knock is planned for Xbox, though with Microsoft's multiplat strategy, you can't really be sure if it'll be an "exclusive" or not. Either way, the game's premise is bonkers, from the looks of things.
From the trailer, we see Sophia Lillis (from IT) as a woman navigating a dimly lit apartment, constantly haunted by mysterious knocking. She lights candles, and the tension is palpable, and eventually, she's caught by a shadowy figure. That was it! They left us on a cliffhanger, but dear God, it was enough to send chills down your spine, so imagine what the game itself can do.
And Kojima isn't doing it all by himself. The project involves horror expert Jordan Peele, the Oscar-winning director of Get Out and Us. Peele is working on direction and writing, with hints that OD might expand into one big franchise.

Two Games, One Vision
Between Physint and OD: Knock, Kojima is proving once again that he's not shy of stepping outside his comfort zone, as we've seen with OD. The Physint game is more akin to Kojima's style, while OD pushes him into the unknown with the horror genre. Both games promise star-studded casts and Kojima's trademark pizazz.
Patience is the name of the game for us fans now. Kojima himself admitted that Physint is still a ways off, and OD: Knock didn't reveal a release window either. Not to glaze, but if you know Kojima, you know his games are worth the wait.
It's crazy that one developer can get this much attention, but Hideo Kojima has earned it. With Physint, he's going back to the formula that fans have been asking for, and with OD: Knock, he's attempting to redefine the way the horror genre is depicted. The knocking continues until we find out more.
