Microsoft starts 'sales ban' on Microsoft Office and Word

One of Microsoft's recent affairs isn't exactly related to gaming, but more on the software, word processor side of things. That said, the news relates to the issue of ‘putting a ban in sales,' regarding file formatting documents using XML (recently used in Microsoft Word), which allows specific documents compatible/readable in different programs.
Microsoft challenged this appeal before, in which the court rejected their arguments and stuck with the decision that Microsoft caused an infringement in a certain patent issued by a Canadian firm, i4i. As a result, Microsoft has removed the feature in the latest versions of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office sales in the United States alone.
Microsoft has stated that they have already submitted to the court's decision, and would "offer revised software" in the US region. Microsoft also had to pay almost $300 million to i4i regarding the incident. However, according to BBC News, i4i said on January 8 that they had "filed another appeal against the injunction," wanting at least 11 US Court of Appeal judges to review the original restriction again. The firm also stated that the process "will be imperceptible to the vast majority of customers."
Director of Microsoft's public affairs Kevin Kutz stated the firm believed the decision diverged from "established precedents governing trial procedure and the determination of damages." Microsoft also announced they will challenge the latest appeal once again.
