Call of Duty is getting ready for a huge change. A new report says that Activision is planning to retire its current engine with Black Ops 7. This will make way for a whole new era in Modern Warfare 4. It's not just a matter of looks; this is the biggest technological step forward for the series since Modern Warfare (2019), and it has huge effects on multiplayer, Warzone, and especially the story.

Reports say that Black Ops 7 will have a lot more content after it comes out than its predecessors. Seasons 1 through 4 will be the game's "bread and butter." Someone told Treyarch and Raven not to leave anything on the table—every piece of content needs to come out with this game, because Modern Warfare 4 is getting an update to its engine that will make it impossible to add old files after the fact.

This also explains why some content that was supposed to be in Black Ops 6 was canceled and used in a different game. It's clear what they want to do: push Black Ops 7 to the edges of the current engine and give fans one last high before starting over. The biggest news is that Modern Warfare 4 will come with a totally updated engine.

This is so important that Activision is ending support for all last-gen hardware. The age of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is over. Because of this change, progress made in Warzone 3 will not move over to Modern Warfare 4. It's a fresh start. Some fans are upset that they have to throw away years' worth of purchases, but others see it as a fresh start.

The base of Call of Duty has become old after almost four years of small changes. Thanks to a new engine, makers can finally break free from the limits of the old generation and make games that look and work better. People who are interested in the campaign should be especially happy.

Since Modern Warfare 2019, each game has felt basically the same, with only small changes to how the game moves and how the guns feel. Things are going to change soon. Modern Warfare 4's storyline is going to feel very different with the new engine that was made just for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

This isn't just a technical update; it's a chance to change the way Call of Duty stories are told. Activision can push cinematic presentation, area design, and AI behavior in ways that weren't possible before, as it is no longer bound by the rules of old-gen consoles.

There are also big changes coming to Warzone because of the reset. Since nothing from the old game is carried over, Activision can start over with a brand-new map, new ways to grow, and a better balance. This might let the series get rid of all the extra stuff that has built up over the years, like weird skins, huge weapon pools, and design choices that were made to work with old hardware.

There's more to the change from Black Ops 7 to Modern Warfare 4 than just better technology. It's the end of an age. The technology that Call of Duty games use has been the same from Modern Warfare 2019 to Black Ops 6. Now, Activision is getting ready to start over, rebuild, and bring the brand to a whole new group of players.

Modern Warfare 4 will not be just another game in the series. It will be the reboot that the series has been waiting for—ambitious enough to stop supporting old consoles, brave enough to change its engine, and sure of itself enough to go up against big games like GTA 6.
