Guess Sony's VR headset was a massive hit, selling 915,000 units as of February 19th.
In comparison the Oculus Rift, which is currently in more trouble, sold 243,000 and HTC Vive 420,00 at the end of last year. These are not official numbers but provided by SuperData Research firm.
In an interview with the New York Times, Andrew House, global chief executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated:
“It’s the classic case in any organization — the guys who are on the front end in sales are getting very excited, very hyped up. You have to temper that with other voices inside the company, myself among them, saying let’s just be a little bit careful.”
The PlayStation VR headset is currently one of the most affordable VR headsets on the market, selling for $399.99. In comparison, the Oculus Rift is $599.99 is the HTC Vive $799.99.
