Possible iPhone 4G Announcement

News by Craig Bryan on  May 26, 2010

It used to be the norm that seasoned gamers would turn their noses up at mobile phone gaming, and play-on-the-go was reserved for true handheld devices, generally the latest Nintendo gizmo. That has all changed in recent years though, especially since the release of the iPhone, with its ever-growing and seemingly unstoppable App Store.

It’s not too unusual to find many gamers’ pockets bulging with Apple’s pocket dynamo, packed to the hilt with the latest releases; whether that’s Angry Birds, with its shockingly addictive gameplay, or a simple paper toss game that requires no more than a simple finger flick to accomplish success.

The graphics are becoming sharper and more polished, the devices touch-screen and motion-sensing abilities are – for the most part- being put to exceptional use, and more and more developers are jumping on the mobile phone bandwagon, in what has turned out to be a pretty good money-spinner.

So it’s no surprise that many, including me, are waiting with baited breath for the announcement of a brand new iPhone. One that is sure to improve upon and refine what is already a wining formula that brings satisfaction to both the gadget freaks amongst us, and the seasoned gamer.

Such an announcement doesn’t seem to be too far off with confirmation of Steve Jobs – Chairman and CEO of Apple, Inc - hosting the upcoming Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2010, which kicks off on June 7th. The event is designed to, “provide advanced advice for skilled developers across five key technology tracks,” and in doing so will help to raise the standard of what comes down the pipeline in the future.

Steve Jobs will, within the conference, hold the keynote talk, and this is where many believe the announcement will be made. Of course it’s all just speculation at this point, but with websites such as Gizmodo reporting on early builds of the gadget, it seems more than likely we’ll be seeing and hearing about the iPhone 4G sooner rather than later.
