Rockstar releasing free Red Dead Redemption DLC

Rockstar's highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption is yet to be released (May 18 in North America and May 21 in Europe), but the company has already promised free downloadable content in June.

The DLC, which is believed to be titled "Outlaws to the End Co-op Mission Pack," will add a multiplayer aspect to the game in the form of cooperative and competitive modes.

It will also feature six new missions, each allowing the full cooperative feature. Half of the missions have already been detailed. The "Walton's Gold" mission will feature players looting gold from a gold mine that is rigged to explode, potentially making it a time-related mission. The other two, "The River" and "The Ammunition," are raiding missions where you have to infiltrate the enemy stronghold for guns, money, booze, or women—the four most important things in the Wild West.

Rockstar founder Sam Houser commented on the new DLC, stating that "with these missions, we wanted to create new ways for players to share in the experience of engaging with this amazing landscape."

The other three missions will be revealed very soon. With the recent bandwagon of creating additional multiplayer content, it's refreshing to know that Rockstar isn't always out to make a quick buck from us gamers.
