Call of Duty 2021 will apparently be set in WW2

A new Call of Duty releases each year and sells millions of copies, with millions in microtransactions following. According to a report from Eurogamer, Call of Duty 2021 will be set in WW2 and is in development by Sledgehammer Games.
The game is codenamed Call of Duty WW2: Vanguard but the name will be changed. The game will be set in 1945 in an alternate timeline where WW2 did not end and continued into the 1950s.
If this is true we likely won't see the characters from the polarizing Call of Duty: WW2 which pushed the "Boots on the Ground" motto heavily. However, the actual game pushed loot boxes disguised as airdrops.
As with many Call of Duty games, we'll likely see small details surface over the course of months. Merchandise appearing on notorious athletes and pro players, reports leaked by Activision, and small details being provided through social media. It's mostly the same formula only slightly altered. What would be shocking is Activision not terminating employees from the company after this Call of Duty sells millions. That and selling a game that's broken at launch and caused systems to cause multiple times.
