Sega Accidently Sues SteamDB Over Yakuza 7

SteamDB has stated that Sega attempted to sue them for pirating Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon. No other Yakuza games or Sega properties were included in the claim. SteamDB is strictly a site for aggregating stats such as average weekly players, total game time, review scores, Twitch watch time, and price conversions across countries. The site does not support piracy, sell games, or link to third parties that do so. Any purchase links lead directly to Steam itself. However, for safety measures SteamDB temporally disabled the Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon specific game page.

 

SteamDB creator Pavel Djundik clarified that DMCA claims are common and are typically resolved. Sega was at first unresponsive, but finally looked into the issue two days later. The publisher has claimed that SteamDB was flagged by their automated anti-piracy software and had no direct human input until now. The issue was resolved and Sega will work to fine tune their bots in an attempt to prevent future problems.
