Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Will Use Stealth and "Unfair" Combat Styles
Fight like a ninja, not a knight in Sekiro: Shadows Die

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is taking death to a new level, with FromSoftware marketing the game based on dying a lot. However, unlike FromSoftware's other games death will operate differently here.

When speaking to PlayStation, director Hidetaka Miyazaki stated that the fighting system was designed with ninja tactics in mind. Instead of fighting directly ninjas use tactics Miyazaki stated as "unfair" such as blinding and attacking from above.
That dynamism is in the combat, as well. There are lots of different ways to approach a battle, such as stealth, or using your arm tools. Attacking from above, for example. Some of your ninja tools can take advantage of an enemy’s weakness, as well. Or, if you want, you can just go straight in with your sword.
Miyazaki discussed that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will feature a story structure found in Dark Souls. Where the player gains access to information in indirect ways through the world instead of cutscenes like in traditional video games.
In addition, death will have ways to influence the gameplay. Most importantly players can resurrect themselves in creative ways to gain an advantage but didn't say how.
The system itself is not yet 100% final, so we don’t want to say anything that might end up changing. What we can say is that it’s in place to maintain the tempo of the game, and the difficulty of the game will be based around it. Just because you have this resurrection mechanic, it doesn’t mean the player won’t be afraid of death.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will launch in early 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
