Sonic Mania Plus Receives New Content Details and Releasing this July

Back at SXSW SEGA announced Sonic Mania Plus, a definitive edition of last year's Sonic Mania with new content and a physical release. Today, SEGA revealed more details what gamers can expect when it launches July 17th.

Sonic Mania Plus will bring 2 new playable characters: Ray the Flying Squirrel and Mighty the Armadillo. Both characters are lesser known figures within the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, with Mighty's last appearance being in  Knuckles Chaotix for the Sega 32X. In addition, a new mode called Encore will have players taking on zones in new layouts. 4-player play will also be added to Competition and Time Attack, with Time Attack getting ghost challenges.

If you already own Sonic Mania you can purchase the entire DLC pack for $4.99 or purchase Sonic Mania Plus for $29.99 when it launches.

Sonic Mania Plus is available both as a physical copy and as DLC if you already own the game. The physical edition comes with special packaging, a reversible cover, and a 32 Page Art Book. Sonic Mania is now available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Sonic Mania Plus launches on the same platforms on July 17th.
