Stellar Blade Just Dropped a Free Update—Here's What You Need to Know
Shift Up keeps the momentum alive with fresh content at no extra cost.

Stellar Blade is back in the spotlight with a brand-new update that players won't have to pay a dime for. That's right! Shift Up just rolled out a patch that adds new quests, fresh rewards, updated music tracks, and a laundry list of fixes, all completely free.
The update officially landed on September 24 for PS5 players, with PC gamers getting their hands on it starting September 30.

The patch has new quests that you can pick up from the in-game bulletin board. Completing them won't just give you the satisfaction of more story content—there's also a small gift waiting at the end. It might not be a big DLC expansion, but free quests and rewards sound sweet to me.
Shift Up also decided to treat fans with music. Six newly arranged tracks have been added. If you swing by the Last Gulp in Zion, you can claim them as a thank-you gift. The list includes "The Song of Sirens," "Star Descent," "Orisa," "Demoncrawler," "Everglow," and "Hyper Tube." It's a nice bonus that not only adds variety to your playthrough but also shows how much the devs care.
No Good Patch Comes Without Bug Fixes
Among the most notable fixes, an issue with the orbital elevator cargo lift that caused dialogue to restart or the elevator to freeze has finally been patched. Scarlet disappearing during a boss challenge phase transition has also been fixed.
In the NIKKE collaboration minigame, a glitch where burst skills made certain enemies immune to Eve's ranged attacks has been patched out. Even fishing received some attention, with the reeling icon no longer displaying gray when switching between different input methods.
What makes this update stand out isn't just the content but the fact that it's free to use. In today's industry, it's almost expected that new quests or music tracks will be locked behind a DLC. Instead, Shift Up is leaning into building goodwill with its player base. Fans are more likely to support future paid DLC or even new projects from the studio because they've already established a reputation for giving back without asking for extra cash.
The game's steady updates are impressive, given that it's not a live-service title. We're talking about a purely single-player experience that still manages to stay in the news cycle months after release. For a new IP in the AAA space, that's no small feat.

The developers mentioned that "more updates are prepared."
Although it's a bit unclear whether they're referring to future patches beyond this one or simply rolling everything into the current release. But rest assured, fans can expect that this isn't the last time Stellar Blade will be updated. The studio is likely to keep finding ways to keep the game in the conversation.
We were hoping for crossover content (looking at you, Silent Hill), especially since the last crossover event, back in June, was so well-received. While this update doesn't bring that, it does set the stage for more in the future. A crossover or two each year is what fans would love. For now, though, the free quests and music are more than enough reason to log back in.
It's worth noting that this update might have made a bigger impact if it had been showcased during a major event like PlayStation's State of Play. Even a brief 20-second teaser paired with a sale announcement would have generated a significant amount of excitement. Instead, the update quietly dropped, but that doesn't make it any less valuable.
In the end, this patch is another win for both Shift Up and Stellar Blade. It gives fans a reason to return, and it builds trust in the studio.
