Talks (Tweets) of a New Ecco the Dolphin

Remember Ecco the Dolphin? I do; it was one of my favorite video games from childhood. Most 90's kids will remember playing the original Ecco the Dolphin on Sega Genesis however, it has a much longer history than you'd expect.

Ecco the Dolphin was published by Sega in 1992 and originally released on the Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis. Players control a dolphin fittingly named Ecco, making him swim, sing, and use echolocation to map out an area. Using combinations Ecco damages his enemies the shark, seahorse, octopus, etc. The series continued with three other games and releases on Game Gear, Game Boy Advance, Steam, XBLA, and a multitude of other platforms.

The creator of Ecco has tweeted about a future Ecco game.

A tweet by the creator of Ecco the Dolphin, Ed Annunziata, was created earlier this month stating:

"Ecco fans, I need you to follow & tweethank @scottfoe, he convinced SEGA to meet with me now chances of a new Ecco the Dolphin x100!"

The tweet was posted on September 12th and brought to attention by a moderator on Evil Avatar. Said moderator also pointed out a second tweet by Ecco's creator saying the original game's music composer is involved with a new Ecco the Dolphin game. More signs continue to pop up about the future of the series as Annunziata tweeted a picture of a poorly drawn dolphin catching a white board wave.

Mr. Annunziata officially has a new twitter follower. This game was pure fun at 8 years old and I can't wait to experience a new game as an adult. I hope Annunziata keeps the tweets coming as I can't hold back my excitement for further news.
