The next-gen console spectuation continues!

This time Xbox World magazine claims to received word that developers have gotten their hands on development kits for the new Xbox, code-named Durango, last month. They are reportedly "powered by a state of the art 16-core IBM Power PC CPU," and is coupled with a Radeon HD 7000-series graphics card as previous rumors have mentioned.

As Ars Technica notes, 16 cores seems like overkill. Today's games struggle with maxing out three cores as is. However, Xbox World thinks those cores could be necessary for the next Kinect, which can supposedly track users "down to their fingertips." It has also been rumored to be able to read one's emotional state.

Microsoft has gone on record to state that they will not be revealing a new console at E3 this year, thus leading the rumor-mill to believe the 360's succeor will be released at the end of 2013. Xbox World claims some developers will, however, demo software intended for next generation consoles at this year's E3.
