US Army Developing Virtual Reality Training Program Using Cryengine 3

News by Jesse Dolman on  May 29, 2011

Intelligent Decisions, an American software solutions company, is building a military simulator on Crytek's Cryengine 3, the same engine that runs Crysis 2.

In a project that will allegedly cost well over 50 million dollars, soldiers will be able to train combat in a sort of virtual reality environment, complete with VR-tracking helmet and a full body motion suit.

Dismounted Soldier, as this 'game' will be called, will allow the US military, for whom the simulator is being developed, to train a wide array of combat operations, ranging from offensive missions to rescue operations, in a safe, virtual reality environment.

With the help of the engine, Dismounted Soldier will probably look a lot better than Glorious Mission, the controversial CoD-like shooter being developed by the Chinese PLA to train its soldiers (read: kill American pigdogs for great justice).
