Wii Fit Balance Board Used at Airports

The Department of Homeland Security surprisingly is funding a project focusing to investigate whether or not the Wii Fit Balance Board can detect signs of tension within a person’s body. As an owner of such as a device, they should already know the Balance Board can measure a person’s balance point. The Future Attribute Screening Technology project aims to develop physiological warning signs in which they will be able to detect or identify passengers “who may have hostile intentions.”

The scientists on board for this project are already conducting studies when they modified a Wii Fit Balance Board to distinguish a person’s quick shifts to their balance point and weight. Further studies are being tested whether or not if there is “fidgeting that would suggest the need for secondary screening," CNN stated.

Along with the Balance Board, tests are underway with eye-trackers and heartbeat / respiratory sensor devices, and scientists are hoping they could have trial runs prepped and ready in the next two years.
