With the summer games showcase season upon us, the excitement in the gaming business is crazy. Sony’s State of Play, Summer Game Fest and Xbox’s annual summer exhibition will all be in the spotlight. All eyes are now on Microsoft and what could be one of its most momentous presentations in recent years.

This year’s XBOX showcase has been remarkably secure compared to prior years, when important news would leak before it was meant to. The lack of numerous leaks makes fans even more excited to see what Xbox has in store. Following a period of significant changes within the organization and adjustments to strategy, they seem ready to enter a new era with a renewed focus and drive. There are still many questions, even with that hope.

XBOX has not fully articulated its long-term hardware goals, made it clear what will happen with platform exclusivity in the future, or provided additional information about initiatives like the rumored Helix hardware. The presentation may not give fans concrete answers to those larger questions, but new leaks and tales do offer a glimpse of what’s to come.

One of the main topics of conversation is Bethesda's famous RPG series, especially Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.

New statements from industry insiders suggest that fans may have to wait longer than expected for major remasters of Fallout titles and new Elder Scrolls games. Many reports believe Fallout remasters may not be on the horizon for fans as soon as they may hope. Rumors about remakes of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas have been circulating for years, but the latest indicators point to a considerably later release date.

Industry experts believe that at least one Fallout might be released around 2027, while The Elder Scrolls VI could be released much later. These statements are not an official report, but they do give an idea of how the industry generally views Bethesda’s development timetable.

Virtuos did the recently released Oblivion Remastered, and many fans suspected the firm would also be working on Fallout-related titles. If so, it may not be fair to demand another massive RPG remaster so soon after Oblivion. A plan for such rapid development may raise questions about the quality of the work and the stability of the technology.

Still, a Fallout declaration could still happen at this year’s expo. Some feel the most likely time for a major announcement is still Fallout Day, October 23, especially considering that former Fallout Day events have been criticized for being more about making money than delivering major announcements. The TV program adaptation has become a hit, and fans are certainly desperate for fresh content; therefore, they would love to hear about a remake of Fallout 3.

This showcase is particularly noteworthy because it’s one of the first big events that XBOX CEO Sarah Bond’s leadership team will be in charge of. There are a lot of people asking whether XBOX has any major long-term news to announce about other games besides the ones it already has. The most exciting story is the one about Clockwork Revolution, the ambitious RPG from InXile Entertainment.

There’s been a lot of chatter about the recent adjustments to XBOX Game Pass listings, when a pair of titles that haven’t released yet showed up under the “Coming Soon” section, but without any release dates attached. This has never happened before and has sparked concerns that some of these projects may be changed during the display, community members claim.

The list of games includes Clockwork Revolution, Fable, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Witchbrook, Echo Weaver, and a handful of more titles that haven’t been announced before or referenced before.

One game that jumps out is Clockwork Revolution. The game made a major splash at last year’s XBOX showcase, with a seven-minute gameplay demo showcasing its time-traveling features, player options, and steampunk-themed setting. A lot of gameplay does not guarantee that a game is close to release, but many believe it is considerably further along in production than previously anticipated.

Known for producing incredibly sophisticated RPG systems, such as in Wasteland 3, it sounds like Clockwork Revolution is a pretty big project. Now, analysts are hearing reports that the game could be released sooner, maybe even before the holidays. Others say a 2026 release is still more likely. In either case, many people are expecting a lot of attention for the game at the Xbox showcase.

People’s beliefs about when XBOX games will be released have also shifted following news that Fable will not be released until February 2027. “This delay will give us more time to work on the game and make the experience better for players,” Xbox added. But people in the game sector say February has become one of the busiest months for releases.

According to reports, several publishers are shifting their plans for Grand Theft Auto VI, making launch dates more competitive. As Fable wasn’t coming out when it was meant to, attention has inevitably shifted to what game may fill the hole. There’s speculation that Xbox might choose to space out its huge RPGs across the years, but Clockwork Revolution has come out as the overwhelming favorite.

If Fallout remasters, Clockwork Revolution, Fable, Exodus and The Expanse all launch within a similar timeframe, RPG fans could be in for one of the best release periods in recent memory. In addition to Xbox’s own titles, several newly-rated games in South Korea have bolstered showcase reports. One surprising game is LEGO City: Skylines, a cross-over project that brings the LEGO name to the city-building gameplay of Cities: Skylines.

Not a ton of information is out there yet, but fans of both shows are already pretty excited about the possibility. Persona 4 Revival has also been rated, suggesting that Atlus’ long-rumored remake could be moving closer to a more formal announcement. The project was briefly mentioned earlier, but the formal release revealed little more than that work on it had already begun.

Many believe that Persona 4 Revival will be available with Persona 3 Reload, possibly in the first half of 2027.

For years, people have been guessing about Persona 6, but Atlus has kept it under wraps. That secret is perhaps beginning to break at last. Recently, reports say that some concept art and character designs for Persona 6 were leaked online. Many sources have confirmed that the photographs are authentic, but they haven’t been widely circulated due to copyright concerns.

Leaks suggest Persona 6 may arrive in September 2027. Some of the information is reportedly backed by well-known Sega insiders, lending greater weight to the assertions. What was said about the stolen artwork also hints at a setting that could be espionage- or spy-themed, a very different setting from that of prior Persona games.

If the idea is real, it may give the franchise a fresh look and narrative, while retaining the social simulation and RPG elements that made it famous worldwide. While a complete disclosure of how the game plays might still be a while off, many fans believe that Atlus could at least reveal the game’s title and major characters within the next year.

Recent rumors suggest that Microsoft is working on an XBOX Elite Controller Series 3 that will bring significant enhancements. Most importantly, the controller is believed to include a removable battery that can be inserted and removed. That’s a big change for one of the most prevalent concerns about Xbox hardware design.

The stolen controller also appears to include a new pairing system that can toggle between local and cloud connections. Such a feature could imply greater proximity to the use of XBOX Cloud Gaming services.

There have also been speculations about a special Xbox streaming controller intended solely for cloud gaming.

People may disagree about how it looks, but the device is proof that Microsoft is still investing in streaming innovation. The hardware leaks have also reignited talk of Project Helix, Microsoft's rumored next-gen hardware project. A major disclosure is unlikely, but many Xbox supporters are hoping the corporation uses the showcase to reassure them of its commitment to future console hardware and to offer a clearer picture of the platform's future newest stories haven’t been confirmed yet, but the big image that’s beginning to shape before the Xbox Summer Showcase is one of plenty of promise.

Microsoft seems to be preparing for a show filled with big announcements: remastered Fallout games, more details on Clockwork Revolution, Persona announcements, LEGO surprises, or new XBOX hardware. now isn’t about whether Xbox has games to show, but which of its many projects will finally get some of that attention. But fans will not have to wait long to learn, as summer showcase season is just around the corner.
