What to Bring

To survive the intense cave and the Lava Golem fight, bring a durable set of armor, preferably strong Flak, and some Med Brews for healing. Shotgun Ammo, a Shotgun, and a Crossbow with plenty of Grappling Hooks are essential.

Equip an imprinted Velonasaur with good stats. Carry Canteens, Food, and Parachutes—the latter helps in case a grapple fails or when navigating vertical drops. A Pickaxe is also necessary to break through a crystal wall near the boss arena.

Finding the Cave Entrance

Head to the cave located above Viking Bay, near the river and waterfall. The entrance is perched on a cliff. Enter and begin navigating the lava-filled tunnels. Be cautious of booby traps and heat buildup inside. Grapple over ledges and platforms efficiently to conserve resources.

Cave Navigation and Loot Opportunities

Once inside, grapple past early traps and areas with arrow turrets. Upon reaching a fallen Rex skeleton, move to the right and grapple to the ledge. Continue forward and navigate through the lava bridge, being careful not to fall through the gaps.

Multiple Red Loot Drops are located along the way and are worth collecting for early rewards. Use Parachutes to cross large gaps and reduce fall damage. Move toward the visible ramp leading downward and find the path to a cracked wall partially hidden behind crystals.

Use a Pickaxe to mine through the crystal cluster and access the hidden path leading to the Lava Golem Arena.

Fighting the Lava Golem

Once inside the arena, quickly grapple to a safe ledge above the Lava Golem’s range. Summon the Velonasaur or other high-stat creature and let it engage the golem. The Lava Golem will awaken and begin attacking, but if positioned correctly on the ledge, none of the falling boulders will hit.

Post-Battle Loot Collection

Unlike previous versions, the loot in ARK: Survival Ascended spawns in supply drops around the arena after defeating the Lava Golem. These drops contain top-tier gear such as Flak Gauntlets with over 800 armor, Fabricated Sniper Blueprints, Electric Prods, and Ammo. Expect to receive multiple high-value blueprints and crafted items per run.

This method makes the Lava Golem one of the best solo loot farms in the game. With repeated runs, the gear obtained can significantly boost survival and combat performance in the rest of your ARK adventure.
