The arrival of a new creature, Maeguana, in ARK: Survival Ascended has sparked excitement and curiosity among survivors. As of now, Maeguana is only available as a paid expansion. It adds new gameplay features and great mobility, making it a useful addition to any tribe.
This guide tells you where to find Maeguana, how to tame them, and what their skills, roles, and stats are, so you can get the most out of this amazing creature.

Where to Find Maeguana
At present, Maeguana can only be found on the Astraeos map. It cannot be tamed on any other map. Maeguana spawns in various regions across Astraeos and is not considered rare, so you will encounter it frequently during exploration.
For those who prefer not to search, spawn commands are available; simply enter the desired level to summon Maeguana instantly.

How to Tame a Maeguana
Maeguana is a knockout tame. The most effective method involves constructing a trap using three gateways and two gates. Arrange the gateways to prevent escape and secure them with the gates.
To lure Maeguana into the trap, use rare flowers for aggressive attraction or giant bee honey if the creature is nearby. Clearing the area beforehand is recommended for both methods.
Close the gate and use the transq arrows to knock it out once Maeguana is inside. Maeguana likes to be tamed with raw meat or basic kibble when it is asleep.

Abilities of Maeguana
Maeguana offers several valuable abilities, making it a must-have throughout your adventure. Its standout feature is automatic baby care. By placing the food required for baby creatures in Maeguana’s inventory and activating the feeding trough mode, you can raise babies effortlessly.
Babies must be placed in their pouch or very close to Maeguana to benefit from the feeding trough effect. Leveling weight and nursing effectiveness maximizes food storage and feeding efficiency.
Maeguana lays eggs of random quality at unpredictable intervals, even under the influence of an Oviraptor. The quality of each egg is indicated upon pickup. Resource collection is possible by right-clicking and then pressing C for a belly flop, allowing gathering of berries, meat, fiber, and hide, though not as efficiently as late-game creatures.
Maeguanas are great at carrying babies; they can do it on land or in the air with up to four babies at a time.
Gliding is another highlight. Maeguana boasts one of the fastest gliding speeds in the game. To achieve top speed, initiate a glide, dive downward until the speed effect activates, then strafe left and right to maintain momentum.
This mechanic enables rapid travel across the map and even over water, as Maeguana can glide on and move swiftly underwater.

Roles of Maeguana
Maeguana fulfills two primary roles.
First, it automates baby creature care by storing food and activating the feeding trough mode, allowing easy baby raising. Babies benefit from this feature when in a saddle or near Maeguana.
Second, Maeguana can steal enemy baby creatures and escape quickly using its exceptional gliding ability. As the fastest flyer currently available, Maeguana is highly valued for both mobility and utility.
While it cannot grab other players, its speed and agility make it ideal for quick getaways and traversing challenging terrain.

Stats of Maeguana
Maeguana is not the strongest creature in terms of raw power, but it compensates with speed and versatility. It features a unique nursing effectiveness stat, which increases the range of the feeding trough ability and boosts baby food satisfaction by 1% for each percentage invested.
Maeguana starts with a base of 700 health, 450 stamina, and 400 weight. Its ability to fly, carry substantial loads, and evade pursuers makes it difficult to catch.
Is Maeguana Any Good?
Maeguana stands out as one of the best additions to ARK: Survival Ascended. Its combination of strength, agility, and speed makes it the perfect tame for early game progression and remains useful throughout your journey.
However, its exclusivity to the Astraeos map, part of a paid DLC, may be a drawback for some players. Nevertheless, Maeguana’s design and utility ensure it is a prized companion for any survivor.
