Best Level Ever + New Games
Games by FetusZero on Dec 19, 2009
I'll start with the new level.. I love whoever chose the names of the level and want to stay on level 5 forever! It's Rockman! The famous Blue Bomber! My favorite games of all time, and I achieve such a level on here? I want to stay at level 5!
Which brings me to another point which isn't in my subject line.. Rockman 10/Megaman 10 (for those who didn't know that Rockman is Megaman), which has been announced for 2010 on PS3, X360 and Wii! Once again, they go the 8-bit way and provide us with another exciting game as we used to have back in the NES days, just like Megaman 9. This will be my GOTY for 2010 within my heart, as Megaman 9 was the GOTY within my heart for 2009.
Yep, it's in Japanese. There is an English one as well, but hey it was the first one in the list. Credits and props to The Megaman Network for making this video available on YouTube.
Alright, so I bought a bunch of new games off of Steam lately, along with two new games for X360 to play in local co-op with my best friend. Oh and he just had a lil' baby girl, congratulations to him :] By the way I'm not going to talk all that much about the games themselves, as I am pretty tired right now lol, especially concerning the X360 ones, since I didn't get to play them a lot yet.
Let's start off with the X360 games as there's only two, and speaking of two, I bought Army of Two and Kane & Lynch. I had never played these games before and I've been liking it so far.. anyway for the small ammount of time spent playing, as I only played co-op with my friend and we see each other like once a month. I'll definitely try them out by myself as well, though I can hardly see how enjoyable Kane & Lynch would be in single player considering that even with 2 local players, the remaining AI (when it is there) is literally stupid and annoying, so I'm not really eager at seeing how the game goes with 2 AIs. As for Army of Two though, I've been told he isn't that stupid and actually plays pretty well. Only time will tell, as I have yet to try the actual single player modes of both games.
On Steam I bought a bunch of new games since last time, although it technically only is 2 purchases: Osmos and the Complete Shooter Pack which has Alien Shooter, Alien Shooter: Revisited, Alien Shooter 2: Reloaded and Zombie Shooter, bringing me to a total of 5 new games.
Osmos is rather relaxing.. at first. You're some kind of molecule, and you slowly propulse yourself by detaching some molecules in the opposite direction that you want to go. So far, the main goal is always to get bigger than the other molecules in the zone, which is achieved by eating smaller molecules to grow larger until none of them can eat you back. I do recommend people to try out the demo for a relaxing moment within a video game, but rest assured that you are most likely NOT going to relax if you buy the full game. Why? Because it is strangely and surprisingly extremely hard. The Tutorial and first levels are rather easy going and makes you lay back a little bit, while right after this, the later levels are really difficult, requiring you to carefully navigate in an impass created by molecules twice your size, all while you need to eat smaller ones to grow big enough to eat the ones blocking your path, etc. Believe me, the game is a lot harder than it looks and can get frustrating as you see yourself restarting the levels quite often. There is nothing else to Osmos than living as a molecule and eating other molecules, apart from the layout of zones being different, some with a center of gravity, some anti-matter molecules which reduces your size instead, etc.
Alien and Zombie Shooter are the same, minus the level changes and upgrade features. I don't know if many of you will remember that classic called Alien Syndrome, which I think used to be on Sega Genesis back in the days, but for those who do, Alien/Zombie Shooter is pretty much the same genre. You play from a top down view from a certain angle, walking around in a building shooting at aliens or zombies. Within the missions you'll sometimes have actual objectives other than destroying every single non-human living species, like blocking their pathways through wall with explosives, destroying a certain object and such, but in every mission you always need to exterminate every single one of the enemies. Available to you is an array of weapons such as handguns, rocket launchers, miniguns, shotguns and more. They all work better against certain type of enemies, though if you are careful and fast enough the handgun can do the trick when you run out of ammo for other weapons, since it has unlimited ammo. Adding to the simplistic, barbarian and bloody gameplay are upgrades. You can upgrade your character's stats (health, strenght, speed and accuracy) either by spending money or finding the corresponding chips within the levels. You can also buy new weapons if you are lazy, since you can find them in levels as well. Basically, everything you can buy you can also find. They are some pretty challenging games and pretty good to pass the time when you don't feel like playing anything else, but those who want something easy should definitely check elsewhere, since these small arcade games are sure to be frustrating early on the game.
As a last note, I ordered myself a nice Card Reader (SD, Memory Stick, etc.) for my computer. Thing is the old one that was in my HP tower was custom built for it, and had a custom faceplate to fit it as well. The result: It doesn't fit in any way in my new tower since it is much too small and literally slips through my external 3'5" bay. I decided then to order a new one for like $15. I don't use it all that much, but it's pretty useful to transfer files from my computer to someone elses computer or to my PS3, which I am lucky enough to have the first 80GB model which has the card readers. I should receive early on next week, say Monday or Tuesday.
Well, time for me to go to bed ;p
