Borderlands 4 Guide | How to get the Best Shotgun (Hot Slugger)
Here's how you can get the Legendary Hot Slugger.

The Hot Slugger happens to be one of the best shotguns in Borderlands 4. It's known for its heavy single-shot and for its powerful stacking damage.
Made by Jakobs, this is a weapon that features high crit potential and shots that ricochet; this guide will explain how you'll be able to get your hands on it.

First, you'll want to head to Terminus Range, which happens to be on the right side of the map. From there, you'll want to head to the bones of the sanctuary until you reach a bunker called Craven's Nook.
Once you've progressed far enough in the story, you will be able to unlock the ability to use the canister to break open the bunker.
When you're inside, you'll be met with a bunch of enemies, but interacting with them won't be necessary to save time.
You will want to move using the main path up until you have reached a large room with a vent. Look up and use your grapple to continue to the boss's chamber.

The boss in question is Callus Harbinger of Annihilating Death. Despite having such a scary name, the fight is pretty simple.
Once you have defeated Callus, there's a chance that the Hot Slugger will drop, depending on your luck. You'll always be able to use the Encore Machine to repeat the fight until you get your hands on the weapon.

One thing with this shotgun is that it always chops with the same stat, and there aren't any modifiers for this weapon.
The Slugger is built for chaining kills, and each successful takedown will stack damage, ramping up the amount of overall damage that you deal. Its shooting style gives it a lot of accuracy, allowing for some long-range shots.
It's a good shotgun that pairs with any character build, and it does even better with abilities that set up easy critical hits. The hot slugger can shred through enemies like cake, making it one of the most fun-to-use weapons in Borderlands 4.
