Cronos: The New Dawn Guide | How to Get Bolt Cutters & Hardware Store Key

Bloober's Cronos: The New Dawn, a bold, brutal, and unrelenting return to pure survival horror, is one of the better horror games to have come out in recent times, encapsulating the very essence of horror. 

This game is both oppressive and exciting, but it can be difficult to navigate around; this guide will show you how you'll be able to get your hands on the Bolt Cutters & Hardware Store Key to progress through the chain-locked doors.

Around the D3 Housing Project, you will come across a chain-locked door that stops you from making it to the dive point.

The only way to make it through is by getting your hands on bolt cutters, which you will be able to find in the Hardware Store.

To be able to make it into the hardware store, you'll first need the hardware store key. The hardware store can be seen when you are in the courtyard, next to the broken neon sign. You will first need to head through the double doors into the parking area.

When you are inside, there are a couple of enemies that you'll need to take down; at the end of the room, there will be an area where you'll be able to drop through a broken garage opening – here you can also find a Time Oddity that you can use to activate a shortcut back to the courtyard.

Proceed by heading into the main housing project flats from the main entrance, you'll notice on your right, there's also another chained entrance, this one happens to be of an elevator, that you can break open later using bolt cutters. 

Continue progressing upwards, where you'll be greeted by a few enemies on your way, and eventually, you'll reach a biomass wall that blocks Room 29.

Push the metal locker to head inside, and once you're in, you're once again met with a few enemies.

Take them out and make your way to the balcony. The path will lead you to another room containing the Hardware Store Key on the table.

Once you've collected the key, head back to the courtyard and use the key to unlock the hardware store. When inside, you'll be able to see the bolt cutters through the office window.

You'll need to look for a biomass wall to destroy to get access, and burn it down by shooting at the fuel can. Once destroyed, enter the room to collect the Bolt Cutters.

With the required items now in your possession, you'll be able to break open the chained doors. One of the important doors will lead you to a cat; interacting with it will give you the Traveler's Seal Key that helps you open special red-locked doors throughout the game.
