One clean plan for every boss, with safe openings and quick wins.
Game Guide by Ornstein on Feb 20, 2026
On paper, God of War: Sons of Sparta makes boss fights easy, but it punishes greed hard. If you swing for too long, you get hit. Most bosses give in quickly if you stay calm. The goal is always the same. Let the boss make a move, then dodge once. After that, punish with a short combo and start over.
Before You Fight a Boss
Have a two-hit mindset. Don't try to deal a lot of damage unless the boss is clearly stunned. Keep your distance close enough to punish, but not so close that you get grabbed. If your boss starts mixing projectiles and rush attacks, stay on the ground and respond. It is usually safer to roll early than to roll late.
How to Win Against Cyclops
Cyclops is a classic way to start. You win by respecting the big swings and slams. When it attacks hard, move to the side and hit it from the side. Don't guess if it jumps or gets longer than usual. Back up, watch the landing and then step in when the animation is over.

How to Win Against Ioke
Ioke is a skill check that teaches you to be patient. It moves quickly, so the best time to hurt it is after it dives or slams. Dodge through the hitbox, then hit it hard before it flies away again. If you keep chasing, you'll waste time and get caught.

How to Beat Alastor
People who don't space things out well get in trouble with Alastor. Wait until it makes a clear choice while staying just outside of its main swing range. When it starts to smell bad, do a quick mix and start over. Stop striking and only focus on dodging until the pattern breaks if it starts to chain pressure.

How to Win Against Ponea
Ponea fights like the first pace, but she is meaner and faster. When you're going, don't attack. Let it come to you, don't go for it, and then beat it while it heals. Stay on the edges if the field gets messy. Only move back to the middle when it's safe to do so.

How to Defeat the Devoted One
Rhythm is what The Devoted One is all about. When you stop trying to get in the way of everything, the fight gets easier. Block or dodge the first threat, then hit back quickly. If you ever feel rushed, don't force trades. Instead, slow down and start over.

How to Win The Fylaki
The Fylaki hits you hard and wants you to freak out. No. Make your combos short and always leave room to dodge. If you see a long wind-up, dodge early and then hit back when the attack is over. If it gets you in a corner, get away first. Damage comes after that.

How to Win Against Skolopendra
Discipline pays off in Skolopendra. Don't stand in front of the most obvious threat line and stay on the move. Wait for a committed strike, then punish during the recovery window. Do less if it starts to attack more quickly. Avoid the first hit and only take the safest one.

How to Win The Katergaris
When you swing into the Katergaris's pressure, it can be dangerous. Instead, set up an attack, dodge once, and then lightly punish. Make sure your spacing is always the same. The fight turns when you get greedy.

How to Win Against Apate
Apate is all about clean reads. If you're confused in the middle of a fight, slow down and watch the beginning of each animation. Avoid the committed move, then punish. Don't attack when someone is faking or moving. Your patience is hurting you.

How to Beat Metallon Calf and Metallon Bull
This is a fight for control. The most important thing is not to get stuck. Keep both enemies on the same side of you as much as you can. Tag the one that goes too far, then move before the other one gets too close. If you get stuck between them, stop right away and make the space between them again.

How to Win Against Ipotane
Ipotane is mean and punishes people who don't react quickly. Dodge the biggest attack, hit once or twice, then back off. If you don't stop watching, you'll take surprise damage. The fight will end quickly if you keep it clean.

How to Win Against Koteros
Koteros is the last test of space and self-control. Don't chase. After the boss finishes a big sequence, punish them while they are recovering. Don't use your strongest burst right away; wait for the cleanest opening. When the pace picks up, take a few seconds to think about staying alive and wait for the pattern to settle.

The Easy Rule That Always Wins
You defend if your boss is moving. You attack when your boss is getting better. Keep your hits short, your dodges early and your spacing reset after every punishment. That one habit will help you get through the whole list of bosses.
