I've got the post-E3 blues
Games by Azn_pride on Jun 12, 2011
Hey all! It has been a long, long, long, long, long time since I've actually blogged in this site we all call NoobFeed. I apologize for not blogging on a regular basis. It seems that I've gotten tired of blogging over the years, and as a writer for the site, writing news, previews, and reviews have been my number 1 focus. But hey, here I am, and I hope you take the time to read this rather lengthy blog of mine. I've got so much things in my head I want to let out, so I hope you understand.
First off, E3 2011 is over! But don't worry. I'm not going to give you a recap of what went down at the E3 press conferences from June 6th to June 7th. I already did that in this article, so check it out if you haven't already. And in case you missed the rest of the content we covered, go here. Anyways, as I was saying, I'm here to share my personal E3 highlights as well as the games I'm looking forward to after experiencing them at the event.
Who "won" E3 in my mind
As much as I initially felt good about Microsoft's conference and felt indifferent about it afterwards, and as much as I liked Nintendo's briefing, I'd have to go with Sony on this one. The way they addressed the PSN outage was classy to say the least, and I couldn't be any happier with that. Shame Kevin Butler wasn't there though.
Despite my qualms about the whole 3D and Playstation Move inclusions in every game they were showing at the briefing, I actually think the $499 24-inch 3D TV was reasonable. That aside, they showed off games that I can't wait to play when they all come out. The same goes for the PS Vita, and I was thorougly impressed with their demonstration of the handheld's capabilities. I'm tempted to actually get one, because I think it's worth it. Someone prove me wrong.
Game of the show, and other games
My game of the show still goes to Bioshock Infinite. After seeing more E3 gameplay footage and demos from various sites, Irrational Games' latest title is only disappointing in the fact that we have to wait until next year to play it. Moving through the skylines is both thrilling and exciting, and the powers protagonist Booker DeWitt acquires puts emphasis on strategy, not just mindlessly gunning down hordes of enemies. His relationship with Elizabeth is what I'm most intrigued by, and I can't wait how that turns out. Enough about that, though. Here is a complete list of all the games I'm most looking forward to playing after E3 (in no particular order):
- Bioshock Infinite
- Assassin's Creed: Revelations
- Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
- OverStrike
- Battlefield 3
- Catherine
- Batman: Arkham City
- Dance Central 2 (haha! No, seriously)
- Tomb Raider
- Starfox 64 (3DS)
- Asura's Wrath
- That new Super Smash Bros. game
- Wii U games they've yet to show (that Zelda tech demo in HD looked fantastic, by the way)
I'm still pretty disappointed these games weren't even at E3. Where's my Persona 5, Atlus!? Kingdom Hearts III, Square Enix?! What about Versus XIII!? Last Guardian? Rockstar's Agent? But that's enough venting for now. I'd rather keep that in check than turn this well-organized blog into an ugly editorial.
Summer, and Pile of Shame
That's enough E3 talk. Now that I've gotten that over with, it's time to focus on the rest of my summer. I've still got 2 months to go until the next semester of my rather dubious college life ensues again. I've got myself a list of unfinished games I aim to complete in the duration of the summer, though I'm slowly realizing I might not get to all of them. Here's what I've completed so far:
- Dead Space 2
- Portal (Part of The Orange Box on PS3)
- Portal 2
- Final Fantasy IX
and...that's about it. Now here is the complete list, my so called Pile of Shame:
- Half-Life 2 (Part of The Orange Box on PS3)
- HL2: Episode 1 (Ditto)
- HL2: Episode 2 (Ditto)
- Final Fantasy VIII
- Resident Evil 4
- Resident Evil 5
- Aquaria
- Machinarium
- Braid
- Katamari Damacy
- Dark Cloud 2
- Valkyria Chronicles
- inFamous
- Xenosaga Episode 1
- Xenosaga Episode 2
- Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
- Shadow of the Colossus
Seems like a tall order, but hey that's not stopping me. Hopefully I can at least get through half of them, if not all. Anyways, that's the end of my blog. Sorry it's so long (lack of pictures to keep your attention, no doubt). But thanks for coming in here and reading it!
