One of the best items you can find early in MIO: Memories in Orbit is the Protective Overlay. This modifier gives you an extra health segment, which is very helpful for boss fights. You can get it right near the start of the game if you know where to look.

Traveling to the Spine

Start at the Nexus. Walk up and go past Shii. Keep heading to the left until you reach the elevator. Call the lift and take it up to Level 1, the Spine.

Once you get to the top, go to the far left. Keep moving that way until you find an edge you can jump off in MIO: Memories in Orbit.

Fighting for the Modifier

After you drop down, head all the way to the right. You can fight the enemies or just run past them. Eventually, you will need to drop down again and turn toward the left.

You will see a container, but it is a trap. As soon as you get close, a group of enemies will appear. Most of them fly, so be ready to fight in the air. You must kill all of them to unlock the container in MIO: Memories in Orbit.

Using the Protective Overlay

Once the enemies are dead, open the box to get the Protective Overlay. This modifier takes up 20 Matrix space, which is a lot for the early game.

You might have to take off another modifier, like the one that shows enemy health, to make it fit. Having the extra health is usually worth the trade in MIO: Memories in Orbit.
