Duckweed is an important item in Pokémon Pokopia. You need it in some late-game areas to make certain habitats. The process is simple once you know what affects it. This guide explains how to make Duckweed, how to remove it, and what can stop it from appearing.
How To Remove Duckweed
If you already have Duckweed placed somewhere, you can remove it by using Cut. Just cut it the same way you would cut anything else. Once you do that, the Duckweed is removed.

How To Make Duckweed
To make Duckweed, you need the upgraded Leafage ability. You also need to use it on an area with the right underside. The water surface alone is not the only thing that matters. What is under it matters too.
If you use upgraded Leafage on the right kind of water or surface, it will create Duckweed. In the example shown, using upgraded Leafage on the stone slabs creates Duckweed.

Natural Water Vs Man-Made Water
This is the part you need to remember most. Duckweed seems to work better on natural water sources. If you use upgraded Leafage on a natural pond or another natural water source, it can make Duckweed.
But if you try the same thing on man-made water, it may not work the same way. Instead of making Duckweed, the game may create Leafage. So, if you made the water yourself, or if it is part of a built setup, the result may be different.
That means the outcome depends on whether the water is natural or man-made. It also depends on the block or brick underneath the water.

How To Upgrade Leafage
To upgrade Leafage, you need a Chopping Board from Rocky Ruins and Two Leaves. Use them to make a simple salad. When you eat that food, your Leafage gets upgraded.
Once that upgrade is active, you can try making Duckweed in the correct places.
What To Keep In Mind
If Duckweed does not appear, the problem is usually the location. Try using upgraded Leafage on a natural water source instead of a man-made one. Also, check what is under the water, because that can change the result. If the game creates Leafage instead, the spot is unlikely to be valid for Duckweed.
