Ryzen tiny PC we're looking at is so powerful that it almost seems incorrect to call it a mini PC. It's basically a small workstation with specs that many people would not expect. There is significant performance potential here, with 16 cores and 32 threads. The Ryzen 9 9955HX, essentially the 9950X desktop variant cut down to 100W for mobile, packs incredible computational power while remaining compact.
We noticed that many forums underestimate what this unit can handle. Despite the CPU's 100W power draw, the 240W power brick provides sufficient power for other components, leaving room to push performance further if needed. The device includes a variety of ports and expansion options, such as HDMI, USB, PCIe, and U. 2-to-NVMe adapters, offering both flexibility and scalability.

For those concerned about licensing, activating Windows 11 Pro OEM can be done affordably without paying hundreds of dollars. Using a service like Hookies with a discount code, the key costs around $23.22.

Hardware Specifications and Memory Potential
The small PC has 32GB of DDR5 RAM at 5600 MT/s and can officially support up to 96GB. There are, however, packages with more memory, such as 64GB per DIMM, which could go over the maximum RAM listed. There are NVMe drives, USB4 connections, and support for U.2 disks with the right adapters. The system is complete with integrated Radeon graphics, which provide basic display performance without a separate GPU.

The tiny workstation scored 34,824 points in Cinebench R23, beating the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X and matching the performance of a desktop 7950X. With cooler temperatures, scores rose slightly to 35,133 points, underscoring the importance of thermal management for achieving optimal performance.
Single-core testing showed that the core power demand was 30 to 40 watts, and the clocks could reach 5.4 GHz, indicating that the boost behavior was quite good under controlled conditions.

Cooling and Thermal Management
The cooling system's design is small yet works well. It pulls air in from the top and bottom and pushes it out the back. There are separate fans for the CPU, RAM, and high-speed networking parts.
The system features two heat pipes for the CPU, with a substantial copper heat spreader. Thermal paste application can slightly reduce temperatures, but the unit's performance is largely limited by thermal constraints rather than power availability.
Expandability and Connectivity
There are three USB Type-A connectors, one USB 2.0 port, a USB 3 mic/headphone combo, and a power button on the front panel. The back of this unit features USB 5 GB, USB 10 GB, HDMI, USB Type-C, 2.5 GB LAN, and two 10 GB SFP+ ports. This makes it a strong choice for networking workstations. PCIe slots let you add more GPUs or storage, and they support bifurcation and Gen4 X4 speeds. You can also upgrade the device's Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth.
Storage expandability is impressive: multiple NVMe slots, U.2 drive support, and compatibility with high-capacity drives enable users to create an insane SSD NAS setup if desired. The combination of high-speed networking, expandability, and storage potential makes this mini workstation suitable for demanding rendering and server tasks.
Final Thoughts
The MS-A2 from Minis Forum has an amazing CPU performance and is very easy to upgrade. It can compete with high-end desktop CPUs because it has up to 16 cores, 32 threads, and can accelerate multiple cores to 5.4 GHz. The largest problem with long-term peak performance is still thermal control. Even so, the tiny size and changeable fan profiles help customers get the greatest cooling possible.
It also features networking and storage choices that make it an even better PC for small businesses. that only has one HDMI port, which isn't a big deal, but you can fix that by adding a second GPU. The Ryzen 9955HX is a great choice if you want the most power in a small workstation because it works considerably better than the Ryzen 7945HX.
The Ryzen 9955HX micro workstation is a superb illustration of how much power can fit in a small box. It has a CPU that works like a desktop, fast storage, robust networking, and the ability to satisfy a lot of different purposes.
