Slimes are the main component in Slime Rancher 2, and each type has its own favorite food, location, and special behavior.
In Slime Rancher 2, Slimes can be grouped into four main categories: Basic Slimes, Aggressive Slimes, Non-Corral Slimes, and Special Slimes.

Basic Slimes
Pink Slimes are the most common type and can be found throughout the entire map. They are very easy to care for because they eat anything without having a favorite food.
You will find Cotton Slimes in Rainbow Fields and Starlight Strand. They enjoy eating vegetables. And Heart Beets are their favorite.
You can also find Tabby Slimes almost everywhere and prefer eating meat, especially Stony Hens.
Phosphor Slimes, on the other hand, only appear at night and can be seen in most areas. Their favorite food is the CuBerry fruit.
However, they need protection from sunlight. Hence, keeping them in caves or using the Solar Shield upgrade is important to prevent them from disappearing.
You will find Angler Slimes in the Starlight Strand, and they prefer eating Sea Hens.
Batty Slimes also live in the Starlight Strand and love eating Pomegranates.
Flutter Slimes live in the same area and only eat Moondew Nectar. You cannot grow this nectar on the ranch, but instead it drops naturally from plants. This makes it difficult to collect it. However, a good solution is to combine them with another slime that has a more manageable diet.
Ringtail Slimes can be found in both Starlight Strand and Ember Valley. They will eat anything but have no favorite food. But these slimes are only active at night. They transform into statues during the day and can only be picked up, but cannot be vacuumed.
In addition, Honey Slimes live in Ember Valley and Starlight Strand. They enjoy eating fruit, with Mint Mango being their favorite.
Lastly, Hunter Slimes can also be found in Starlight Strand. They like eating Roostros. They also have the special ability to turn invisible. The best way to spot them is to look for their glowing eyes while exploring.

Aggressive Slimes
You will find Rock Slimes in Ember Valley. They prefer Heart Beets. And they are known to roll at high speeds to attack. They leave behind spikes on the ground that can cause damage when they do this.
Boom Slimes also live in Ember Valley and enjoy eating Stony Hens. They are aggressive and are known for exploding suddenly, which scatters items and can harm nearby creatures.
Crystal Slimes appear in both Starlight Strand and Ember Valley. Their favorite food is the Odd Onion, and they behave similarly to Rock Slimes. However, instead of simple rocks, they use colorful crystal spikes, making them more dangerous and visually striking.
Non-Corral Slimes
You can find Puddle Slimes in Ember Valley and Starlight Strand. They do not eat traditional foods, unlike most slimes.
Instead, they live in ponds and rely on water for their survival. These slimes naturally produce Plorts over time without requiring any feeding.
In Ember Valley, you will also find Fire Slimes, and they survive on ash created by burning items. They live in an upgraded Incinerator that collects ashes. They produce Plorts on their own as long as the ash supply is maintained, much like Puddle Slimes.
Special Slimes
Lucky Slimes are rare and can appear randomly in place of other slime spawns, especially in Starlight Strand. They love meat, and when you feed them, they drop valuable rewards. It is essential to act quickly when one is spotted, as they tend to vanish rapidly.
