The Monochrome Spiral is a legendary long-range rifle, a marvel of engineering with a beautiful design that gives unparalleled offensive attribute increases. When equipped, it gives Shionne a massive physical attack rating of 538, elemental attack rating of 568 and an incredible penetration value of 552. Obtaining this legendary gun is a long and arduous process, as it is locked behind some of the hardest end-game and post-game milestones and challenges in the game.

You need a complex mixture of high-level monster drops scattered across entirely different realms and mysterious dimensional rifts to forge this ultimate weapon. To get the materials to craft, players will have to travel through dangerous environments and systematically take down some of the most dangerous monsters in the universe. In this detailed walkthrough guide we will go through every step needed to unlock the crafting blueprint, find the rare material drops and how to quickly gather the needed currency.

The Recipe for the Endgame Path

You will need to progress far enough into the story to unlock the crafting entry for the Monochrome Spiral before you can start hunting down the individual materials needed to craft it. Blacksmiths and campsite merchants in the early or mid-portion of your journey through Dahna do not have the recipe itself available. Instead, after you return from the planet Rena (before the final boss fight), you can view this weapon blueprint in your forging interface.

At this late-game point, the blueprint can be inspected, but actually completing the fabrication process is a post-game activity. You are required to complete the main story of Tales of Arise, and allow the emotional ending credits to go through completely. The game will then ask you to create a clean data save file, which will be easily recognizable by a unique white star icon in your save menu.

When you load this star-marked clear data file, your party is transported back to the world just before the final dungeon but all advanced world activities and post-game content are open to you. With this clear data active, your blacksmithing menu will always contain the weapon and you can finally start looking for its components. Locating these materials will push your combat strategies and party synergy to the very limit.

Beginning the Otherworldly Visitors Quest

Much of the materials required to build this ultimate firearm cannot be found within the normal geographic borders of Dahna or Rena. Instead, you must access a series of mysterious dimensional rifts that lead to a high-level parallel realm known as the Otherworld. To get into this playground after the game ends, you'll have to do some side activities that bridge the gap between dimensions.

The first step on this path is to journey to the majestic city of Viscint, in the fertile and prosperous realm of Menancia. When you arrive, look for an NPC that will give you a sub-quest called Another Hillside Anomaly, which will task your party with investigating strange structural anomalies. Completing this first investigative mission will naturally lead you into a much larger, more dangerous questline known as Otherworldly Visitors.

This long quest chain will teach you about the different types of dimensional rifts, each with challenging bosses and elite versions of regular monsters. These rifts are where you will need to go . The specific enemies that have the ultimate crafting components are far down in these parallel worlds . Before diving into these dangerous rifts, make sure your entire party is fully leveled, well-rested, and stocked with healing items.

Rending Titanfang Hunt

The first big thing you will want to collect is a big stockpile of Rending Titanfangs. You will need to gather a total of ten of these sharp fangs in order to satisfy the blacksmith's demands for the rifle. Luckily these fangs can be found outside of the dimensional rifts which means you can actually start hunting them down slightly earlier on in your playthrough if you want.

To find them, you will need to make your way to the advanced Renan floating installation of Lenegis, which orbits high above the surface of Dahna. Search the station's living spaces and maintenance corridors for dangerous, glowing creatures known as "Force Wolves". These fast, predatory enemies come in packs, and can easily overwhelm an unready party with their quick lunges and coordinated biting attacks.

Law's boost strikes are highly recommended against these agile wolves, breaking their fast posture and leaving them open to massive physical combos when fighting them. Shionne’s job is to watch the party’s health bars while throwing elemental blast artes from a safe distance. Keep fighting these beasts and resetting the zone until you've successfully accumulated all ten required fangs in your inventory.

Collecting Gloaming Crystals

After your wolf hunting adventures are over, your next mission takes you deep into the heart of the dimensional rifts. Monochrome Spiral requires 2 Gloaming Crystals in the recipe, which are very rare drops from high tier elite monsters. These rare stones can only be obtained by fighting the deadly, heavily-armored creatures called Punishers.

Punishers are enormous, intimidating knights wielding heavy weaponry and possessing great physical defensive abilities. These giant enemies can be found roaming around the early levels of the dungeons in the Otherworld accessed through the quest rifts. Thanks to their high physical defense and iron stance, they require heavy, repeated pressure from Kisara’s shield rushes and Alphen’s blazing sword attacks to break their guard.

It’s a good idea to eat a meal at a campsite that boosts your item drop rate before you fight these armored knights. If crystals don't drop immediately after a fight, you can easily reset the zone by moving to another map area and back, which forces a respawn of the monsters. Patience is important during this farming stage but luckily you only need to get two of these brilliant crystals to complete the recipe.

Dragon Scales

The third rare resource on your endgame crafting checklist is four pristine Dragon Scales. These legendary scales are guarded by one of the most terrifying and physically intimidating reptilian monsters in the post-game ecosystems. You'll have to venture deeper into the volcanic and ruined zones within the otherworldly rifts to get them.

The object of this particular material is the Ignite Dragon, a huge flying beast who wields the destructive power of fire. This beast uses wide swipes from its tail, devastating aerial dives, and wide streams of blazing breath that can incinerate an underprepared party in seconds. The key to fighting this apex predator is positioning and quick reflexes to avoid its very telegraphed but entirely lethal attacks.

Alphen’s boost strikes are very useful in this fight, as they can reliably get the dragon down from the sky and into a long downed state. Use your best aerial and ground artes to do as much damage as you can while the dragon is grounded before it recovers. Eventually you will kill these magnificent beasts and obtain the four Dragon Scales required for Shionne's weapon upgrade.

Berg Volcano Again

The last monster material you’ll need to fill out your crafting checklist is a pair of Granite Fragments. These fragments are not found in the dimensional rifts, as were the previous two materials, but are actually found in the core world of Dahna. You will have to make a quick trip back down to the fiery depths of the Berg Volcano to get them.

In the searing caverns of the volcano, seek out great elemental constructs called Magmalems roaming the molten roads. These lumbering but highly destructive rock monsters defend their territory with giant ground-poundings and explosive magma eruptions. Their stoney bodies make them pretty resilient to normal physical attacks . Elemental magic is better for a quick kill .

Send Rinwell to cast some powerful water-based astral artes from a safe distance to take advantage of their elemental weakness and quickly chip away at their massive health pools. from afar, shionne can help by firing precise, high-penetration rifle shots on their glowing elemental weak points. A couple of these molten giants should be easy prey and will give us the two Granite Fragments the blacksmith needs.

Collecting the Necessary Gald

Tales of Arise: Rare Monster Materials & High-Level Blacksmithing Guide Elite craftsmen across the lands are not free, and crafting a weapon of this caliber is a significant financial investment from the player. In particular, you must pay exactly 22,880 Gald and the gathered materials to complete the forging process.

If you have been splurging on costly curative items this figure may appear daunting, but amassing wealth in the endgame is relatively simple. You can also enter high level solo and group trials on the Training Grounds, which often pay out large sums of money the first time they are completed. Alternatively, you can track down giant elite Zeugles scattered across the world and claim massive bounties that can instantly fill your coin purse.

Another very good way is to sell valuable ore commodities or excess lower tier monster materials you no longer need for gear upgrades. Just don't accidentally sell any of the rare items you just worked so hard to harvest for Shionne's gun. The only thing between you and the Monochrome Spiral will be gone when your funds hit the minimum required.

Assembling the Masterpiece

Your wallet is full of Gald, and the hard work is finally over with ten Rending Titanfangs, two Gloaming Crystals, four Dragon Scales, and two Granite Fragments. Go to any blacksmith in any big city, like the one in the busy capital of Viscint or the quiet inn at Ulzebek. Or you can simply approach the multi-talented merchant found at any campsite anywhere in the world.

Head to the weapon fabrication menu, then select the category for Shionne’s equipment to find the Monochrome Spiral listing. Confirm the crafting order and the blacksmith will straight away beat the rare otherworldly materials into a sleek, peerless firearm. The weapon will be added to your inventory automatically and you’ll be ready to equip it before your next grand encounter.

That firearm provides such massive stat boosts that Shionne becomes a force of nature on the battlefield immediately. Her normal shots will be packing a serious punch and her offensive astral artes will do serious elemental damage to anyone stupid enough to stand in her way. The huge penetration boost also greatly increases her ability to stagger bosses and interrupt enemy casting animations.

In addition to its base combat effectiveness, the Monochrome Spiral is also visually unique enough to be deserving of its legendary status. You can either wear it with pride for its own aesthetic, or take advantage of the game’s weapon skin system to spread its stats onto another aesthetic visual you prefer. This gun is Shionne’s ultimate engineering achievement, and a testament to your mastery of the game’s most difficult post-game challenges.
